Hard to get my head around this. Purposely cutting off limbs, severing spinal cords and self blinding? There are some really screwed up people out there.

Funny this should come up. My neighbor asked me about disability...
Huh?
He knew about my car accident, scars and occasionally gimping around. He knows I work mostly partime here and there, or at home...
He assumed I was on state DA. I was kind of shocked he thought that. He's a LEO, known him since we moved here.

I explained to him my logic. Although I probably could qualify, and no employer would want the worker's comp liability I am, I am still very capable of working. I told him I have friends missing limbs from Iraq that still hold their own in blue collar jobs, no way in hell I'd take handouts. I'm not out to work the system. It's a shame other people are. There are times people need a hand up, but not repeated hand outs:confused:

There are a lot of useless people out there. I took unemployment for a few months after I was laid off before it became just a gigantic pain in the ass. To be honest, attempting to navigate .gov programs isn't worth any amount of money to me....easier to just find something else to do and make more money. I mentioned this to one someone while hanging out over a buddy's house....amongst what turned about to be a whole group of useless people who literally spend their whole day navigating and working the system. I asked why not just go find a job where you can make real money and have some sense of accomplishment?....none of them could understand my logic.

Unemployment is insurance that you paid a premium for.
If you crashed your car you would use your insurance to fix it, right?
Unemployment is not quite the same as handouts.
Although COVID tried real hard to make it one with the $600 stipend.

They’re both a pain in the ass. That’s why I no longer carry anything but liability…easier to just pay for it and move on.
