When putting the Cooler in the trunk Friday night I heard a little hiss. Is was dark and I was barefoot, turn the light on my phone and not 6’ away was this baby rattle snake.
The “river feet” got me thinking.

Kingman was typical snake count last week. Even had a Mohave green come for a visit. I just toss them down the road and move on, there just snakes.

Isn't it unusual for those guys to be out at night?.... I thought they were sun worshipers

They love heat not so much the sun. That’s why they’re typically nocturnal. The Arizona Sun will bake them pretty quick during the summer months.

Not a fan of buzzers. They usually meet the flat end of my shovel if they come onto my property. If I see them out while I’m hiking in their habitat I don’t bother them as long as they don’t bother me 🐍

Rattler?
No. It was a non-venomous snake and the guy who grabbed it knew that.
