Got back from a night cruise and tied up in a slip at the havasu marina. Walking back to the parking lot this huge beaver cruises buy, almost silent like a owl, scared the hell out of me. Thing was really large. I had heard havasu had some nice beaver, but to see one up close was pretty special.

Up until this year, I had only seen them upriver. There were several in the Islander cove in July.

Did you ever notice the shrubs along the marina and by Nautical are about 6" above the water. Beavers chew the low hanging branches off.

With tail this thing had to be three feet long. Reminded me of an owl in flight, silent as it swam by, no wake :)

I miss "Chuck" . He was the canadian goose(or whatever he was) that always hung out on the docks near the fuel/store.

Wife and I were floating in the Islander cove couple weeks ago as the sun was setting. Out of the corner of my eye I see a Beaver swimming towards us and quietly went right behind us: Wife screamed

Yeah, not seen him in two seasons. He'd been there year round for at least 3 yrs best I can recall.
At first he kinda freaked me out but once I learned he'd been named and called it out to him, he would flap and squawk back. We were all cool thereafter:p:D

I know we stayed back from him, I thought he didn't like 22' cruizers and more partial to 26' and above. Damn thing chased us away from the dock more than once. Wish I would've knew his name, we might have been friends.
