My kids played firebirds football there and one time it was so hot the glue holding cleats together was melting and kids shoes were falling apart. I am done with the heat this summer. Not one day on any lake is killing me.Don’t know the kids do it.
My son played, I recall a game on artificial grass at Chaparral high that was so hot the kids had to keep moving their feet or they would feel like they were burning. Artificial Turf temp was easily 125+
Another game in Maryvale was 112 on dead grass, the brilliant school brought in a water truck to water the field to keep chaff down. One pass of the water truck and it made Africa hot seem not so bad.
Never understood why start school in August.
Mid September just might be cooler .
I remember school start after Labor Day . What the hell happened
I went to Havasu High in 9th grade.View attachment 787934 Give these guys a hand for playing a game at 110d in August.
Most schools are trying to follow the collegiate level. That being said I agree. What happened to starting after Labor Day.

I find that hard to believe another 2-3 weeks really I call bullshit!!It is because there have been "studies" about kids "losing" the previous year's knowledge over the long summer break... And teachers whining that they have to spend a few weeks going back over stuff from last year, which means they can't spend time prepping for the tests in the fall.
My kids started back on Wednesday. It sucks because the weather in June is pretty iffy here. I'd rather have them go a few weeks into June instead of being out before memorial day.
