What type of buisness does Havasu lack. Or what type of buisness is there room for? Looking to invest with an Uncle of mine. By trade we own a aerospace machine shop. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't think the volumes are there to make alot of money at it. If your used to aerospace then your talking NC stuff I assume. There wouls be a small market with maybe some custom proprietory pieces for the boat manufacturers but I don't see alot of volume. Havasu is too far out of the way to start shipping it all over so I guess Titanium and stainless chastity belts it is for ya. Of course you would be the only ones with the master key.:D

They key is Govt contract work. If you have a machine shop and can get any type of gov't contract then you can open a shop anywhere. It would just be the logistics of moving material wich these days is a lot easier than before.

Would your business venture need to be busy year round or could it be seasonal work? There seems to be a lot of businesses that are booming and then slow way down. If your there full time I think you'd want something that catered to the boating crowd as well as pffroaders. Also snowbirds and anyone else's money you could earn. I have no experience in lake havasu business other than the money I spend when I'm down there. But in my humble opinion it seems that alot of the "boat" oriented places slow way down come November till maybe march?

IMHO there are a number of good welders, and fabricators along with a couple of 'reasonable' CNC shops. IMHO there just isn't that much traffic these days for the people who are already here. IMHO the people/customers here who have the money to get a new toy, either buy one running or build it themselves these days. I would never open a full time shop here, it's too expensive to buy or lease and there are a bunch of (hotrod, boat, motor, tooling, rigging, repair) guys, starving here already. Everytime a boat shop lays off workers, the workers go out and open their own boat repair shop. "Starve to death in style". Again IMHO if you could 'water jet' a single part or a small number of parts at prices like 'Little Cesar's Pizzas' go out the door, you may survive in Havasu. "Just callin' it as I see it".

We only have two VW stores out here. One only wants to deal with the real old van and thinks his shit don't stink. And the well never has anything and i'm talking about even your any give day parts. So i think some think like Moore Parts Source that's in Anaheim/Pacific Customs Unltd. that's in Corona. Some think like that will keep you going all year round with the Internet Sales.:thumbsup

And keep in mind Snowbirds don't spend much here unless it's something like oil change ,need tires, or car needs repair.

Because you don't own a phonebook ? Because you didn't ask around or even ask here (RDP) ? Because he is 'a friend of a friend ?' Just askin' because I'm a Certified Marine Surveyor and I can recommend a few other Marine Suveyors in Mohave county if you don't like me. I hope you got great service from the person you did choose, none of us likes to hear about "what one of us did wrong". Doin' the boat thing for 42 years, working with boat owners and insurance companies for 13 years and doing it at the river for about 9 years.

I know you are interested in Havasu, but I would increase the search area. When it comes to non tourist business, Havasu sucks. Lake Havasu City is not real close to an interstate. Freight and shipping is a problem. I would spend more time checking out Kingman and the Blythe area. I-40 and I-10 are much more business friendly.

Climate and year around business I would look toward Kingman. I spent five years working from Yuma to Bullhead city, before locating in Blythe twenty years ago. ( I relocated from Orange County)

I live in Parker, but would never make a third of what I do in Blythe. Havasu is even worse unfortunately.

Depending on your situation, Calif. is much more tax friendly than Arizona. Property taxes are less, sales tax is less etc. in Calif. Auto insurance is less in Calif.

Do your research, before you make the move.
