@Ironmike

The one you posted is pretty light duty at 10A. You'd want to verify what your ram(s) will be drawing and then add a little room for safety.

Here's what I've used with pretty good success. Only bummer is the size. It measures 4.25" x 2.5" and is approximately 2" tall. The upside is its rated for 60A.

Aloha
Yes! I saw the 10amp after & thought I'd need 20-25amp? Thx for the heads up!

I actually already gave it away and forgot I did. Look for an atv winch relay on amazon. They are smaller and work really good for this use. Something like this.

I use this one on my Spectra along with a momentary togel.

a couple of 30A standard 5post relays work as well for much cheaper if you dont mind doing a little bit of wiring

Even though my 'Recreational' boats, be they large or small, are not For Hire or used in 6-Pack charters, I do try as a general rule to follow CG Requirements as general safety guidelines.
I think this article by Blue Sea Systems is worth a read and as a reminder that there are important differences and reasons for 'Approved' marine devices being more expensive than their automotive counterparts.

(I realize you do this every day for a living and understand this. Problem is, not all those reading RDP do)

most of your "standard" relays are compliant and some of those hatch ram actuator relay boards use the exact relays that you can buy individually.

the main offending culprits are generally engine components

I'd assume Eddie Marine and other marine manufacturers would be using properly rated devices, either within the enclosure or the enclosure itself. If not then their lawyers are napping.

I know the only relays I used in enclosed engine compartments might have appeared standard, but were all potted and had the appropriate marine ignition protected ratings.

This relay pictured appears 'Standard', but it also carries a J1171, UL1500, and ISO 8846 rating as being Ignition Protected.

X2 Cole Hersee.

I have one in my boat. super simple small relay box for twins electric rams. No need for overcomplication here. Can use any up down rocker switch with a center default postion. All the load is carried by the relay box not the switch.

Very clean set up! Which relay set up did you go with?

On a side note, I’m doing three Optima batteries as well. Ideally I’d like two for the stereo and one for the boat stuff. I have a dual selector switch but haven’t really thought about how I should hook it up with three batteries.

How do you have yours wired?

Were you able to watch video? I am having tech difficulties on my end and cannot see my video attached...
I went with the CP performance relay box for dual ram setup. you can get it there or Hardin marine.

I actually have 4 optimas.. All on the dual selector. works awesome. you can run 2 to the #1 side and all 3/4 to the #2 side

Yes I was able to see the video, but I have an iPhone so that might make a difference with some.

That’s good you went with the Hardin Marine box, that’s the one I suggested in this thread. I’ve got the same one on my boat that I’m wiring up. sure it’s a few bucks more but it’s clean and compact.

Anybody looking to upgrade their hatch ram wiring, this is a pretty good deal on the Cole Hersee relay that was posted above ($45).

there is no difference in part #24452 or 24452-BX. The BX part number denotes the relay is packaged individually for single piece resale (BX = boxed).

Just installed my Cole Hearsee 2 weeks ago, wow what a difference. Extremely simple set-up but took extra time to get wiring and location optimized. Used 10 ga. wire and be sure to add 20-30 amp. FUSE LINK to battery feed wire as close to battery connection as possible.
