Hello all,
Subject says it all. I would like to take a trip up there this summer and wondered if the lake had filled back up. I've looked on the web cams that show up on a Google search, but I wanted to see if anyone had been there first hand and might even possibly have some pics.

Thanks!

Place brings back memories. I wouldn't mind taking a trip up there this summer myself. Last time I looked though, rentals were not cheap.

My folks live there. Yes, the lake is nearly full, down 2' from the top.

It looks pretty full on the webcams. And I've been keeping a close eye on that same chart :) Any chance they could send you few pics? Ha.

I grew up going to this lake in the late 70's and 80's. Beautiful place, and always had a great time. We used to camp in Little Denver Church... back when you could camp there! I love coming to Havasu, but Bass Lake a fun change of pace too.

If you belong to any Elks you can RV camp at the Oakhurst Lodge for $15 a night.
Nice lodge, cheap food and drinks too.
30 Amp, water and dump station. Any size rig.
We're almost 60' and we fit in nicely.

The old Buzzards at the Elks say that story has been around since the depression.
"And it's grown a few legs too."

Who or what is Elmer?

It's an old tradition but there supposedly was a kid lost in the Sierra's a hundred billion trillion years ago and never found. You'll here camps yell out for "Elmer" throughout the night. Can get going pretty good amongst the different camps. Yosemite goes nuts with it.

Thank you I do remember now from when I was a kid either doing that shaver lake or pine flats:thumbsup

It's better now! The last few years the lake been down at least 10-15 ft. Due to work on dam. Eat at the Forks restaurant. Best burger and Onion Rings!

Many a night at the camp fire yelling Ellllll-mer. Ha. Good times. Yeah, the web cams make it look like it pretty much full. Thought some of the inmates here on RDP might have been there for Memorial weekend.

Nope! Haha. i don't know if they still call for him in the camp grounds. After my folks retired and bought a house there, we can't here the call for him. If you hear it during the wait for the fireworks on the water, that' probably me.. hehe.

More than a few. My folks dock hasn't touched the water in 6 years! Sucked! 3 years of Dam rebuild, followed by the drought.

Forks is good, but the best secret is Miller's Landing.. great food and friendly folks that own and run it. Say high to Kevin, he grew up working there when his dad owned it, now he and his wife run it. Nice folks.

It does, also takes off all of the deposits on your anodes, and my trim tabs. Never any water spots from that water.. too bad the Colorado River isn't like that. I heard somewhere that Bass Lake is the cleanest lake in CA. Probably because they drain it down so low every winter and refills with snow runoff.

This was taken in 2013, 25 years ago, I was a competition slalom skier, so glass is what I want, here's the 0755am ski crew ready to "Get it Wet". Bass Lake 8am.jpg

Went there for a week in June of 13..lake was down but doable. It reminds me so much of what is wrong with CA...first trip is over to the cop shop to buy a 68.00 pass to use the lake...I was not thrilled about that. Its an emission fee of some sort...or call it what it is...a fricken tax...the ya head over to the Pines to put your boat in...10 bucks in and 10 bucks out...Yikes:yikes...then rent a place to stay...Yikes:yikes and the story went on all week. Then got pulled over in the morning because you can't run with any wake before 8AM...then cant make a wake after 8PM...

To conclude this story...way to many rules and costs for this hillbilly from Boise...Beautiful spot in the Sierra's but no thanks for quite a long time.

That's what I was hoping to see. Thanks for posting the pics! It's a beautiful lake. Doing a big family reunion up there in August and wanted to make sure it wasn't the mudhole that it's been for past couple years. Can't wait to go!

No guarantees by August. The lake is so shallow its easy/quick to fill but also when down a few feet it gets a lot smaller real quick.
Also be prepared for all the dead pine trees. I live in Mariposa, next town, 95% mortality rate.
As stated earlier, very tight on the rules. I haven't boated on it in many years. But it is pretty, kind of like a mini Tahoe!

The lake is usually kept high until mid August. Water will be warm, low-mid 80's
