Is there a difference between a Hallet mini cruiser (19 ft) and a Hallett (20 ft) Sport Skier? Both are V-drives.

I see them shown as being 1 foot different, but their appearance is remarkably similar.

The yellow boat is our Hallett 19' sport skier. The blue and white boat it our 21' Vector. Hallett also made a 20ft tub with a round nose and a little more free-board than the 19ss. I've seen the 19' called a 20'

I think the round nose hallett was shy of 19 and took a ton of horsepower to make them run

I believe the mini is 18" 6" and looks much different than the yellow 19.. It has a rounded bottom and will chine walk at high speed , 80+ . Pete Mitchell had one that he ran for many years with a TT motor. I dont think it ever saw 90. Turned really well. Sonny Tan (SunTan #101) had one at Arrowhead as well, some claim it has the best wake of any boat using a 90' line. Last I heard the Andersons had it.

I have a 20' Super Sport vdrive. It has a rounded bottom, the transom looks like the Sport Skier. I believe the Super Sports where used for ski racing also, pre Vector. My boat is rock solid in the low 80', they don't handle well much past that. Phil Bergeron knows alot about these hulls and you could always call Hallett.

The Hallett mini cruiser was the first real V bottom to win nationals over all I think sandiego 1976, it was powered by a Al Cerney 468 tunnel ram chevrolet.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed information. I recently bought a mini-cruiser and am trying to learn more about the various Hallett's similar to it.

I am surprised to see so many models with only small changes made, but each seems to serve a purpose.

mine was used as a ski race boat at one time, but is now a very nice boat for days when the water is a little choppy. I have a Cole TR-4 also, but when the lake is busy, it sits on the anchor.

The Hallett Mini Cruiser measures 18' 3" over all in length and has a basically rounded bow, I set up several of these hulls for ski racing back in the late 70's and early 80's they also worked very well for a family jet drive ski boat. These boats would run well set up with a v-drive but needed a little extra power to run fast and due to the round bottom they were also a little tricky to drive at times. Here is a couple of pictures of a Mini Cruiser jet drive that I completely restored for a customer in Nor Cal
