I am going to sell my beloved Hallett 270T, so I thought I would put up a note incase someone is looking for one. The boat is perfect in every way. Straight bottom (no steps), has twin Mercruiser 6.2 Scorpions with Imco powerflow exhaust.
Here is a link with the details.

Twin merc racing SBC and that straight bottom.......

The really nice thing about the small block Chevys is they are really easy on gas. Never burn over 10 GPH total for both, usually in the 7-8 range.

Great setup! Would you mind sharing cruising numbers, real-world use? Like what is it running @3000, 3500, 4000 rpms etc?

With the mufflers off it has a top speed on the pitot speedo of about 82 mph (good for bragging rights!), but I also have a Garmin GPS and that shows 76 mph, probably more accurate. With the mufflers installed it is 3-5 MPH slower. It has 26 pitch Bravo 4 blade stainless props. Speed from my memory 3000=42, 3500=50, 4000=60+

I don't think you could do it that cheap. A new Nordic 29 deck with a 600 is pushing $200k

I originally thought $200K, and you are probably right. But if building this boat today, your only real choice is 2X of the new 6.2L 350HP Mercs. They make similar power to the Scorpions, and 2X of them is notably cheaper than a 600.

I agree 100% but all of the other parts x 2 and I think you would probably be pushing the low 200s. Though I do think that Nordic could build it for substantially less than Hallett could have.

Have you experimented with other prop pitch's/set-ups in the past?
I ask because I have a similar boat. It was my fathers and i's still learning some of the finer details. I have a 95 270 Hallett with GT built twin Chevy small blocks with Whipple chargers. I think they were close 400HP each when new, back in the day.
I needed new props and found some used replacement 23P Hydromotive props which are 15.25". i have no issues out of the hole. Was considering going to 4 blades and i picked up some used 22p 4 blades hydromotives but haven't tried em out yet. i think your mid range speeds are a very similar to mine with my 3 blades.
Just curious if you landed on your 26p mercury 4 blade bravos for a reason or have experimented with other set-ups.

The boat came from Hallett with the Bravo 26 pitch 4 blade props and they have always worked well in all situations including Lake Powell. My motors are about 385 HP each.

Mr Kahn, i'll have to say you keep an immaculate boat, this was one of those once in a decade finds. We took it out yesterday on Mead, the buyer loves it, and it could not have gone to a better home. One of the cleanest boats i have ever seen. It will spend the next 18 years being treated the same way.

Hi Racey and Tom,
Thank you, it is kind of bitter sweet, Lisa and I are sad to see it go and always said we would never sell it. But I am glad Tom got it and I know he will take good care of it.
Best of luck,
Dave Kahn
