The Hallett 260 AC was a collaboration between Nick Barron (Hallett) and Art Carlson after Carlson had left Glastron Carlson. Not a very successful model (sales-wise) mostly due to its unusual design (exterior appearance). The 260 AC does perform well , however it takes a bit more horsepower to attain similar performance numbers compared to a conventional vee-bottom of the same size. It's very stable (no chine walk), planes instantly and turns well. Hallett did load a big Paul Pfaff motor in one back in the 1990s and took it to Powerboat Magazine's 100 MPH Shootout at Parker. It did successfully break the 100 mph mark. I tested the boat for Hallett at Elsinore prior to the Shootout to make sure it woulfd exceed the 100 mph number.

How did it turn?
It was a great turning hull as long as you kept the bow up -- no lean. Art also built a 33-foot running wood plug of this design with twin BBC MerCruiser stern drives. Very wide beam -- needed a wide load permit (or a tilt trailer) to legally move it around. Pretty nice offshore cruiser.
