Grich passed last night in his home a little after 7pm surrounded by his family. I would like to say he went peacefully but anybody that has experienced cancer knows that its a cruel way to end a life. He went out in typically Grich fashion. He fought it till the very end. I asked him a week ago why he was fighting so hard to hang on... He replied "its all I have ever known to do". He was one of the best I have ever met. He was like a father to me and taught me everything I know. I was blessed to be a part of his life for over 40+yrs. I will miss him for the rest of my life... There will be a celebration of life for him soon and I will make the announcement. I would like to plan river trip to Parker soon to celebrate and make enough noise that he can here it up above!!!! :skull

Great pics, thanks Jerry :thumbup:Grich was one of my heros growing up. He's a true legend of boat racing. A warm hearted, playful and generous soul. I'll put a video together for everyone to get a small glimpse into his huge life.

Thanks Jerry, smack talkers that made me smile. I am glad I got to know him a little, he will be dearly missed.
He was such a fun man...true to himself like nobody I have ever met. Thanks Maxi for letting me hang out and letting me get to know him.. I could go on for hours about phone calls and times together...but I gotta tell ya one story..
My father in laws place in Parker was host to many people through his years there...one night there was about six of us sitting around the table and telling stories..my FIL Roy had no idea who the hell Paul was...and Paul was in rare form...telling one story after another...I hung on every word Paul said..I was like a teenage groupie with Paul. I loved him. We were out there for hours...When everybody left and my FIL hadn't got a word in edgewise...he says.."Either that guy Paul is full o shit or he's the most accomplished man I have ever met"....I said "Roy, not one word of it was bullshit"...."he raced and won all those races"...and I was so proud to tell him that...just as I am proud to call Paul a great friend..RIP Grich
