I agree with you but on the converse I think it would behoove us to allow non violent offenders a chance at redemption. This way they would be less likely to commit more crimes thus making us safer. I'm not sure a full time regular position with a fire agency should be made available to them but perhaps a lesser role in some other capacity like maybe some form of fire prevention clearance job where they help manage the forests to prevent fires? I know California lags in this area?

Why, I've kept my nose clean went to school and took Fire Technology classes carried a 3.8 GPA put myself through a fire academy and graduated 2nd but I didn't get the job I dreamed of, but these fukers can. That's bullshit.

And during an application hiring process you should be put out front of other candidates because of the effort and preparation you have done. I'm not saying they automatically get jobs ahead of others applying or that they should be afforded the opportunity to be a certified fire fighter but perhaps giving them some motivation to stay on the right path will keep them from going back to the criminal side.
