We've been camped here all week for Trucker Josh's Birthday bash.
A film crew has been filming Volvo Commercials since Monday.
I though the Volvo Line was dead, but evidently not. They've been cruising the dunes with AWD Volvo wagons with gigantic flags on them. Looks like a Nazi rally.

Mild and cool all week, outstanding dune conditions. Feels so good Mother G's closed areas are reopened visiting old areas we thought we'd see no more. 45 square miles of duning available once again.

Put the newer seats in the Rzr. They support your hips better and seem to hold you in on those high speed runs through the bowls and are a bit more comfortable over stock. Got them for $300 ea which I understand is a steal.

Tomorrow a full throttle run to the Duners Diner for Bloody Marys and Breakfast.

Buddy said Duner's Diner is really an improvement over what it was over the last 10 years or so. Enjoy!

You're thinking of SAAB. Volvo still makes a nice car. Rented S60's on more than one occasion, an underappreciated European luxo ride IMHO. Who cares if it drives the wrong wheels.

I should have shot more pix.
They were driving them three abreast through the dunes. Looked cool. Nice cars. We liked the gansta' look of the older Volvo Wagons with the sleek roofline.

Haven't been back to the Glamis bar since the new owners took over there. We'll give them a try tonight. Intermittent hours. Don't see the pizza sign anymore, dunno if they are still in business.
We like the outdoor shady bar at the Duners Diner.

We may be back. We'll let you know if we do. Nice RV spots on the top of the Gecko Loops.

So who should roll into our Camp but Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Don Prudhomme and their posse' chillin and drinking with our crew.

Tony Stewart crashed his sand car on the first run and they flew him out to the hospital in a helicopter.
I don't think it's hit the news but:
A RDP exclusive!

I think Volvo is owned by a Chinese company now. I'm betting that the Swedish safety is a thing of the past.

At the duners Diner if you throw and get your beers bottle cap in the bucket you get a shot of anything they have, get your bottle cap in the jars next to the bucket its a free t shirt, if you toss your beer bottle cap in the (yellow) shot glass above the bucket it's a free round of anything for the entire bar.

Any word on Stewarts condition?
No I have a good friend that's Prattes right hand employee and he went down Thursday to get all their sandcar worked on and ready. They're all stored at Prattes house next to the diner. I'll have to text him and find out.

A couple of the guys wanted to do a run to the Green Door.

Caution, Adults only;

So we stopped off at the Glamis beach bar and inquired with the bartender what the latest protocol is to roll to the Green Door.
Bartender said the border crossing closes at 10:30 PM,, and the LEOS shake down every vehicle traveling on that stretch 24/7.

FYI:
Second word is the water well at the beach store is suffering some problems so the Pizza kitchen is shut down, and the bar is being run minute to minute.

Well it has has been reported:
http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/articles/2016/2/2/tony-stewart-hospitalized-back-injury.html
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Tony Stewart has been hospitalized with a back injury, according to a spokesperson from his Stewart-Haas Racing team.

According to the SHR statement, Stewart was hurt in a non-racing accident Sunday afternoon and was transported to a hospital in an undisclosed location. He is able to move all his extremities, according to a team spokesperson.

Stewart-Haas spokesperson Mike Arning indicated that an update on Stewart's condition "will be provided Thursday afternoon when more information is known."

Stewart, a three-time champion, is entering his final full season in NASCAR's premier series.

Volvo is owned by the Chinese.
Saab is gone but they(as in an Asian conglomerate) are still building the 9-3 model as an electric car...called NEVS. Just announced too that they won't even be able to call them Saab's anymore.

Duner's Diner is not Boardmanville. Duner's Diner is way south of Gecko and Roadrunner, at the Mexican Border. Boardmanville is east of Gecko, past the Glamis Beach Store, so to speak.

Duner's diner is at "gordons well" which is right off the freeway exit on I-8 between El Centro and Yuma
