Gil de Ferran has died

2003 Indianapolis 500 winner, two time CART champion and great asset to motorsports Gil de Ferran passed away yesterday. He was a racer, and a warm, intelligent person. I had some personal interactions with Gil, and will always cherish those moments. He was just 56 years old.

56 years! Not nearly enough time on this earth for the fastest man at Indy.....for him, his family & friends, and so many others... My father at the same age passed away after 7.5 year battle esophageal cancer.

56 is young, even more so now, to me, that my clock has run to 46. It doesn't seem long ago watching him on the TV.

Prayers for his family. In a way, fitting his last outing was to a track.

Met him once in a Honda hospitality, couldn't of been nicer and it was race weekend! Way to young. I bet it was the fucking shot.
