I'm not familiar with gelcoat at all. Don't even know where to get it. I'd like to paint the bilge while my motor is out. Any tips or advice?

Thanks in advance

Don't do a bright color it shows everything and is hard to clean under the motor.

Lots of places sell online. You may want to try to find a local to you supplier that is DIY friendly to help with the technical side of things. That said even the guys half way across the country are just a phone call away.

When I did my Schiada I bought from these two places. Both are DIY friendly and super easy to work with.

RevChem is probably one of the biggest west coast distributors and they sell the DuraTec brand gelcoat which many consider the best in the business. RevChem caters mostly to boat builders although if you have one of their offices nearby thay can be DIY helpful.

As far as how to do it, YouTube is your friend. Tons of videos on all phases of boat repair, restoration, etc.

Why not just use Interlux or Pettit? Both make a paint specifically for the bilge.
