We are the same in Australia with petrol going up. Our prices are geared to buying by the liter (not gallon) and 2 weeks ago l paid $1.19 a liter (91 grade) it has now hit $1.63 a liter on average in the Sydney region.
While we have absolutely huge oil reserves both in and outside of Australia, we have walked away from local refineries and have for many years purchased our crude through Singapore.
Mind you with the continuing shut downs of local refineries (Shell, Ampol, Caltex to name a few) it appears all refined petrol will be shipped from Singapore.
