It's gotta go for final inspection. Exterior is 10x12', interior has 24" deep shelves spaced 24" apart. Center of roof line is about 10' on the interior. Built in 2012 on a slab. You dismantle and take it away. There is access to it for trailer or truck. Just throwing it out there before it gets demolished in a couple of weeks...

You have to tear it down because it wasn't permitted? Can you not just temporarily decrease it's enclosed footprint?

That's my question, I have an 8x12 at my house that I never got permits for
In Long Beach, (and many cities) you can build a shed up to 120 sq feet without a permit. Not sure if Dave is in Lakewood or Long Beach, but in long beach, that shed is legal without a permit.

There are also limits on the amount of outbuildings and the square footage of outbuildings, but a 120 (10x12) sq. ft. shed should be fine.

Not sure why it needs to be torn down, unless they're pulling some bullshit and demanding that the whole property to be brought up to today's code...rather than only the new addition.

It is under 120sqft so no permit required. Problem is is sitting on a 6' easement to the County of LA. Besides that it was full of BS from my wifes sister and has since been cleared out. Yeah we could cut the allthread and roll it over on pipes to a new slab but we would rather have the space than the shed...sheds collect shit you don't need and want to get out of sight... 😁

This is a far more reasonable approach to the situation than I would ever consider.

That's what I was reading too, im under the 120sqft and not on a fixed foundation so I should be alright.

Nic pls show the moving process for this when you pick it up. I always see sheds for free/cheap and wonder realistically what they do to get them out. (when you don't own a crane company) lol

… I found the shed That is in my backyard …free…in the recycler decades ago… There just happened to be a small cement pad right next to the clothesline from 1944… in the back

…The shed was exactly the same size as the cement pad… had to disassemble the shed and reassemble it …but???……

…My stick welder, a 1962 craftsman power mower…… 1960 gasoline powered edger and I don’t know what else is in there… Onan 2.2 propane generator parts.🤷🏽‍♀️

… It still does not leak to this day … no clue why that rectangle cement pad was there… It certainly was not for the incinerator that used to be out there… That was further back🤷🏽‍♀️

It's to wide to put on my trailer. Going to have to separate the walls and remove roof. Not easy. But not hard. After I pay my guys not free either. Lol

I have done it many times. It will be shed 8 on 3 different properties. I have 1 I have disassembled 4 times or so and moved. I already have new shingles for it. But might just go corrugated as easier to remove relocate and reassemble when the time comes.

If you need another trailer let me know. Also need to ask you about a buddies Long Beach property. Specifically pavers.

Probably should of brought 2 trucks. Took a little longer than planned. But we got it disassembled, loaded and parked at the other house where it's going for now. I have roofing shingles there. Going to decide what to do with roof. If I can fit it there permanently will shingle it. If not corrugated roof Probably around $400.

Nice to finally meet Dave.

Thanks for picking that up today. I ended up selling it for $10K. $5K US Dollars, 20 Trump coins, and the rest is MRE’s from River Dave. Your half is in your mailbox, inbox, and 2 Pallets. 😆

So your that guy that almost killed me on the freeway a couple of years ago. :D

I had my guys following me since I forgot my red flag. Nothing moved. And everything was double strapped. That truck is rated for double the weight. I put pallets and units in it regularly.

As long as you said "That's not going anywhere" before you left, then you are safe!

Damn you never met the guy before and your parked on his lawn? 😂😂😂. That’s one hell of a stacking/loading job. The RDP community is pretty cool how many people help others regularly or take stuff off their hands.

He told Me to park there. Lawn is coming out. In order to get final inspection. Needs to be graded and sloped away from the addition.

Good thing cause the street would of been a rough 1. Those sections were heavier than I expected. Last shed was 8x10. Extra 2' made a big difference in weight.

Looks like you guys made it happen. Sounds like a win for both sides.

I am just joking with you. I was on the 57 freeway going south and a 4'x4' piece of wallboard came flying at me. I have no clue what truck it came from but it flew over a simi about 40 ft in the air. There wasn't much I could do except slow down a bit without getting rear ended. It landed right in front of my vehicle and blew into pieces as I ran through it. It wasn't really that big of a deal but I was kind of tripping out before I realize it was wallboard just before impact. lol

So let’s say I have an illegal patio cover behind my garage if an inspector comes to let’s say inspect a new pool I’m putting in he can force me to take it down before signing off on the new project?

What if was like that before I bought the house. Just wondering

Yes. Usually most of them stick to what they are inspecting. Your attitude can definitely change it.

Code enforcement is usually the one that might be a issue. But planning will see everything when getting it approved via satellite imagery. The biggest issue like the shed is setbacks. If it's to close it is a red flag it was not permitted.

What’s dumb is in La Mirada I have a 15ft setback due to some power lines in the back……. but why can an ADU’s be built in the same place but have a 3ft setback. I mean what’s the big difference what structure is there.

"Illegal" is offensive, it's "Migrant" now😉
