I got an email from Instacart that offers free shopping and delivery along with a $15 discount. It was easy to select my usual Costco items and they'll be delivered tomorrow. This is the second time we have used the service.

I don't think it's practical to use one of these services for grocery shopping. I wouldn't trust them to choose the produce I want, and there are always items that didn't make my shopping list that I'll grab when I see them on the shelf.

But for Costco it's a good deal. I won't have to haul stuff like 42 lb bags of cat litter home, and they allow you to select a one hour delivery window.

With this service and Amazon, there's no reason to go out. I'm gonna end up like Howard Hughes, a germophobic, never leaving the house and walking around with tissue boxes on my feet for slippers. :p

Smithers: "...and the jars of urine, sir?"

I started looking into it and found this...

On its grocery delivery FAQ page, Costco encourages shoppers to visit its physical warehouses, noting that prices online are “generally 15 percent to 17 percent higher than warehouse walk-in price.”

A Canadian chain has personnel shoppers that you just order online and they then load it in the car when you arrive at pick up time. They'll go back in for stuff if you forget or you don't like the banana's they chose, etc. Best way to grocery shop.

Costco delivery sounds awesome. Looking forward to using it. Here in NorCal, I shop at Safeway, used their home delivery service a dozen times. Would rate Safeway home delivery a B+ very happy. The delivery time windows are very flexible with same day delivery if needed, range in cost from free to $10.00. They bring everything inside set on kitchen counter and not allowed to accept tips. You can specify exact product only or alternatives OK. Anything your not happy with or don't want upon delivery, e.g. fresh produce not being up to your standard, don't accept and they refund your money. Choosing everything online the first time takes a some time, but all purchases are saved in lists, including favs, and makes future shopping very quick and easy. Anything they don't deliver from your list is noted on invoice, is not charged and has been 100% accurate. Highly recommend to anyone with disabilities or people like me that just don't like grocery shopping.
