So I got invited to a delivery party for a new GT. Wow. The car in person is pretty badass. We even had the Local sheriff there.

I love the old Ford GT (and the GT 40), but this car looks too much like a Ferrari or a Lambo to me.

I'm sure it performs awesome though.

For that price you could buy a couple of real sports cars and have money left over for Champaign.

Not sure you could buy Champaign, IL with that $$$ :D

"The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine is our most powerful EcoBoost ever, delivering 647 horsepower. It was developed alongside the GT race engine and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine used in the F-150 Raptor high-performance off-road pickup, which shares almost 60 percent of its parts with GT's engine." https://corporate.ford.com/innovation/gt-supercar.html

I agree. You can spot the lineage in this car but it's strayed too far from the original. It's probably a wise business move for them, but I'd take a Superformance GT40 over either of the Ford GT's.

She loves her car! I haven’t driven it yet, I’m not really a car guy! I’m more of a jeep truck 4x4 guy. She only has like 4,000 miles on it and she just received her custom lic plates, so she is happy!

Every Sunday I get to wash it! Lucky me....

Her TT is just an awesome car it stickes like glue to the road and has tons of power, she is playing with the Manuel mode and the paddle shifters

They sure look fun !!! Like you, I've always been driving trucks for work and pleasure. I've only driven my wife's sporty Audi SQ5 a handful of times in three years.
Anyway, been considering getting something small and fun to drive, although those TT RS don't come cheap  Glad she's having fun

There was one in the Ford booth at SEMA last week. What surprises me the most is that they have the turbo V6 in them. View attachment 700203 View attachment 700204

This isn't just another GT - this is an all carbon fibre special edition that they used to announce they will be making more GTs. If you didn't get one of the first ones, you could possibly be chosen for one of these;)

I assume you are kidding - or just don't like Fords.

50 years ago that car came in 1,2,3 at LaMans after Enzo backed out of a deal to sell to Ford and Edsel said - spend what ever it takes to beat Ferrari.

Then to legitimize the newest version Ford went back to LaMans on the 50th anniversary and with this new car and won again.

I'm not sure how much more of a "real sports car" it could possibly be.

And the thought of saying you would rather have a kit car instead of the real thing - I can't even begin to understand that comment. I get that some of the kits are well built and some even are supposed to be "exact copies", but I would never consider them better than an original. :)

i had a chance to spend the day with Dennis Olthoff in his shop back in Mount Ulla, NC. Dennis had a half dozen Superformance cars being assembled and serviced for vintage racing. A Superformance GT40 sitting alongside an original GT40 - can't tell which is the original.

I'm glad you said all that! LoL

I put EFI on a Superformance car awhile back. Pretty cool car, but I'd much rather have the real thing.

Thanks for the clarification. I assume that information was was on the other side of the display. Hit this booth first thing in the morning and I must have missed that. I did notice that the wheels were carbon fiber.

You’re forgetting the wins in 1967, 1968 and 1969.

And the “kit car” (which it isn’t) looks like a GT-40 rather than a Ferrari/Lambo stepchild.

It’s a Multimatic race car that’s been engineered for the street.

Not sure how much more of a real sports car it could be, since a racing company developed it?

As stated before this generation Ford GT is a race car that has been been tweaked street legal. 1,000 to 1,250 over 2-3 years. Badass to the bone.

This is a real race car and could be had for fraction of the Ford GT carbon car. Hope my buddy doesn't sell it before I'll see it on our track in the spring. It's only 680HP but weight is a scant 2800 with driver.;)

Do you know how much the Viper cost and what the owner has spent on racing mods?

Just seeing the real deal wiring harnesses in the cockpit tell me it's a pretty big number. That's the same stuff you see in IndyCar, IMSA, etc.

My friend doesn't want me to talk much about the cost and how much he paid for, but you can search about the car at McCAAN racing;) The entire body is carbon fiber.;)

Sport racers are very cool and would drive one back in the day.I really think open wheel cars are the the best.
We have between friends a few Formula Fords and 3 Formula BMWs, so yes, they're pretty cool.;)
