So my buddy just bought the Holy Grail F150 Ecoboost it’s a ‘20 with the 3.5 and 67,000 miles.
I bought my warranty from Iowa but I guess the ship has sailed for out of state extended warranty purchases.

Any have a good experience or hook up for a Ford warranty in California?

What did you get and how much. Dealer was charging him little over $3000 for a 3yr warranty.

As originally stated, I'd purchased one two years ago from Flood for my '18 Raptor, but after reading they were no longer offering it in CA I plugged in my info and it stated it wasn't available.
Seems Sacramento f*cked us under the guise of trying to protect us from unscrupulous insurance companies. I know there were some off brand ones that screamed Buyer Beware, but unfortunately, Ford Warranties are only available from CA dealers now. 😖

I have never tried selling a ESP in California. But I have had 40 years of dealing with crappy ESP aftermarket companies. If you ever buy a ESP from a aftermarket company. First asked how long they have been in business. I have had customers come in with a problem, we call the 800 number and they are out of business. Look over their exclusion section. Had a customer pay over 3K for a warranty. He had a brake caliper go bad. They sent a adjuster out for that minor repair. Canceled his warranty due to a factory installed 5th wheel hitch(They gave him 1k back). The first thing we ask, do you pay with a credit card, do you use Chilton time standards and we do not install used parts.

Unless restricted by your state's laws, I'd imagine your finance person encounters buyers aware of those Ford Dealers selling Ford's ESP in volume and highly reduced prices.
Do you attempt to be competitive price wise, or defend the often outrageous 3X or 4X markups many companies insist are justified ?

Better than the $4800 from Chevy dealer. I had a few issues at 27k miles on one of my trucks I bought at Selman. Tried to ad the extended warranty. Guy accused me of lying to him when I told him it was $1800 when I bought new. Had him look up the other truck I bought to verify I paid $1800. He wouldn't budge on the price.

Ford has an outstanding maintenance warranty too.

I bought one for my F250 for 100,000 miles. It even includes brakes. For a business this is good especially if you want the deduction in just one year brother being nickel and dime for every time it needs a fuel filter oil change it just all upfront. It makes fleet maintenance quite easy. Like 3G is what I paid.

Yes but you can no longer buy Ford warranty outside of CA for a CA vehicle. Otherwise he would buy from Granger like I did.

Purchased an aftermarket, extended warranty once 30 years ago. Money ended up in a fraudulent company's account in the Cayman Islands. Never again. If Im buying used, I do a thorough PPI, and set 10% of the purchase price for unexpected repairs. Have always come out ahead and that includes 11 Porsches.

Does you buddy have an out of state address he can use? The new law doesn’t state that you cannot use a ford warranty plan within CA if purchased with an out of state address.

So similar law in Nevada regarding purchasing Ford Factory ESP from out of state dealer ? That's actually a great price, so I'm confident I'd support my local dealer for that amount. Problem results when I purchase Premium ESP from out of state for $ 1,200 and dealer insists he must sell the same product for $ 3,800 , nope no way.

I thought that was attempted already and they denied it based on the vehicles registered address. Unless of course you had the vehicle registered out of state.

The extended warranty only cost them like $1200. Found that out when I traded in my last truck. Paid $1800. They told me I would get the money back if I sold or traded it in before factory warranty ended. They gave me back $1200. Guess the finance person keeps there cut.

Denied it trying to get work done within CA? Haven't heard that yet.

Yes I told him to roll the dice and see if it goes through. But I read this morning flood ford checks where the vehicle is registered before issuing the warranty.

Wonder if Granger checks.

You're better off taking the money for an ESP and putting it in a CD. Pay for any repairs as needed when they arise. Many times they are going to get denied anyway.

We are a small dealership. We have always depended on the service and Bodyshop to pay the bills. Only me and my son sell. I have always worked off a 200 margin. My theory is, if you buy the warranty, you will come back to our shop for repairs. We do have a handful of small repair shops, I need to keep my customers returning.

I told him to just some money aside if he can’t get a deal.

He might be able to get a factory ESP if he goes to a dealer and has a certified used car inspection done on it, worth calling and checking and it might make it easier if the previous owner has all service records or all services were done at a Ford dealership as the Oasis would show that.

There is no problem getting the factory ESP. The cost is the problem. He was quoted more for a 3yr drivetrain only plan than I paid for a 7yr premium. Again because you are now unable to purchase outside of CA. The dealers are jacking the cost because they essentially have a monopoly.

Remember, his is used and yours was new. It's may cost more in the long run with a used car.

We celebrated our 50th year last week. Ford came and gave us this. I think I posted it.
