so I’ve been waiting to post, to ether flame or not on my 6am DS launch story. I debated posting, but looking back, it’s kinda funny, and I feel ok about it all.
So, Friday morning wifey and I are going to beat the crowds and get on the water about 6, we pull down to Windsor north, and there is this huge orange/yellow Nordic tunnel boat, “see attached”, blocking the whole ramp, no biggy sexy boat probably in the poker run, it being pulled by one of those 4 door big rigs, the driver gets it backed in, then I go in beside him, his dually wheels are beside me about half way down my bow to get that monster to float behind it to float. start up and go through my little routine before pulling off my trailer, that big Nordic pulls off, about this time the truck driver try’s to pull forward, but it’s like the brakes are on , on the trailer, and he ain’t moven, he does a little wheel spin, and with those exposed tires, that are half submerged, they throw a bit of a roost. A bit lands on my bow, no biggy, it’s a boat, they get wet, next he gives a bit more throttle, and the roost goes about 15’ in the air and nails me pretty good, now I’m pissed and yelling, next, he just floors it, the roost is 25’ in the air and it is like niagra falls is coming down on me, and he keeps his foot in it, I’m enraged, my wife is screaming, and he finally lifts, , I have a huge waterfall coming down my bow between the canopies, and I’m standing in 2” of water, I’m beyond screaming, it’s close to heart attack time, I am in kill mode, This big guy gets out of the truck, not knowing what has happened and I am screaming every colorful metaphor know to man, most of are not physically possible, and I won’t stop, If I’m that guy, I would have tried to kick my ass. Anyway he approached my wife, who told him to back the F off, and he is now is in I’m sorry mode, and telling me,”I’m not that guy”. And that he is the GM at Nordic boats, I’m so pissed I don’t care if he was President of the United States., my bilge pumps are still running to get the water out,”they ran for a few minutes”.
Not only was it lake water,”ok I drip in there from swimming”, but the crap, pebbles and snot at the ramp.
I end up launching after the bilge runs dry. I had to go drink a beer to calm down. I was soaked my interior, all our towels, I’m telling you it was a water fall. We went out, and where disappointed at the slow boats going by in the poker run, spent Saturday opening everything up and detailing the boat,”I know it’s a 03 but I treat her like new”.
I cleaned the carpet twice, and couldn’t get the smell out.
Monday morning I called Nordic, and Talked to Thane, I apologized for loosing my cool, and Thane told me it was the owners truck, and it had no posi, he was looking in the left mirror, not knowing why he wasnent moving, while all hell was breaking loose on the right side where I was, He proved himself, he is not that guy. Nordic gave me a new carpet kit for my Daytona.
Thane and the crew at Nordic are a ok bunch, even though I lost a few years off my life that morning, lol.

you're a better man than me. I would have found an unopened 12oz beverage and with all my might would have opened his back window with it if possible.
glad it all worked out in the end for you...........

I completely feel you. I would have been the same as you, just having a total spastic shit fit. My wife would have been too since she babies our boat the same as I do. This is a lesson we can all learn from that we all need to take a step back and cool down.
That is awesome that Thane and Nordic took are of you on the carpet kit. The guys there including Kyle did so much for us when we had a Mercury Racing warranty issue. Pretty good guys that get how to take care of a customer.

I think this exchange would be a good read of those who defended the hecklers in the site 6 thread. Hell, if Thane couldn't get a trailer out, should he too go "practice in a parking lot somewhere before he goes to a busy ramp?"

Shit happens, no matter who you are.

I gave Seen that before, somebody gets one tire on the smooth strip between the lanes and there is no traction there.

He gave you a new carpet kit for getting your boat wet? That’s a score!

Yes shit does happen.. and how you react to it is a testament to character. In this case Thane apologized and went above and beyond to make it right.

In the case of your misguided post you are taking one set of circumstances and associating them with something entirely different to try and take some shot at me.

Think I’d rather be the first guy. ;) Not sure what I’d expect from a guy that wears spandex though.

What does who the person is or what they do for work have anything to do with current situation? What are the facts here.......driver persists on giving more fuel after every failed attempt without considering surroundings until driver finally reached max number of attempts and dismounts to check things out and finds out he's messing up someone else's property. Yes, he owned up to it which makes him exceptional compared to most but after he messed up.

Wow, my boat's are shit boxes, and I still would have had a coronary with that experience:confused:

Yes, people screw up, facts of life. It's what you do after the screw up that really sticks. You can compound the mistake, or try to zero it out. It sucks you had to detail your boat, but at least they tried to do something good after.
