Flight Club Skaterfest - PHOTOS

I see that Rob started a thread for this year's Skaterfest at LOTO,
and I have to say that I am really looking forward to it. Last year was a blast.

To help build some interest in that event, I gotta tell you guys about a little party from the other day. :champagne:

Last weekend, I went up to Metro Beach on Lake St Clair (about an hour north of Detroit) to cover Flight Club Skaterfest.
Hosted by the owner of Flight Club, a casino/gentlemen's club, the event was off completely off the freaking chain.

Ron was a fantastic host. He and his neighbors have plenty of dock space, an incredible house, and he absolutely had all the bases covered-
including custom Speedwear tshirts and arranging for a shuttle bus to take the Saturday party at his house (after the run) to the club for a little R&R.

Although focused on Skaters, all go-fast boats were welcome.
One of the most popular was an old school Scarab- retired race boat that was cool as chit. Those Michigan guys know how to do it.

I got a few pix from the event.

This first one is the boat house at Ron's. The property used to be home to a boat building operation (Active Cat),
and when Ron bought the place he literally had to build the house around it because it was grandfathered in.
Absolutely one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
Ballistic looked like it was made for it.

Most of us, clearly, are doing it wrong.

Here are some shots from the club.
DO NOT try to get a camera into a strip club unless you are with the owner.

They have a '67 Vette suspended on cables that lowers to the stage a few times each night.
The lights on the thing are wired into the strobe system and a couple of the girls get in it,
they raise it about 20ft and they do a little show. Like I said, off the chain.

Some of my Skater friends brought their favorite girls, and mine.
Summer and Tristan are great sports and put up with me all weekend.

Here they are posing with with a spare set of Scorpion 1550's from Ronnie's garage.
The man has got some toys.

LOL... nah, it doesn't work that way for me, brother.
I'll have a couple drinks with the guys, but when I'm at an event- it is work. I simply cannot relax if I have a camera in my hand-
and getting the shots is only the beginning of the process.

And... my body takes much longer to recover than it did when I was younger.
One day you will understand what I am talkin about.

No way in hell do I wanna be hangin out of a chopper or standing on a beach for 4 hours in 95 degree heat with a hangover.

Jay, thanks for taking the time to post these unreal pics. I've said it before but you set the bar high. Looking at boats can actually get mundane but you give it that extra flair and artistic look that really makes the shots pop - and I'm not refering to the editing of the photo but the actual angles, topography and visual que's that translate into actual art.

Awesome pics, I think there were some here I missed on OSO.

The west coast guys would hate our lake, too much fun (rough) stuff.

As someone who's been to FC....I know how he has that kind of money! Those chicks can't be trusted w/ a CC ($1500 later w/ totals written in by the girls for not even a real lap dance cuz I was hammered seems pretty profitable). I think he owns some other places too which also do well, or they must given the toys!
