Taking my pops out to Parker for fathers day. I havent fished much there and when I have, and when I have tried I haven't had any success. My dad really wants to do some fishing this weekend. Can anyone help me out with what lures or bait to use and where are some good places to fish on the river. I really appreciate any help at all.

Thanks,

Joe

Crank baits up at the dam on the right side along the rocks will get you small mouth bass. I always use A Bomber lures. Would sometimes continue to float past the rocky shoreline and cast near the docks . I used to live up that way and that is where I fished the most.

Like Baja said, cranks. Very seldom do you catch stripers like this up by the dam, but I did :D mostly large & small mouths and you'll catch them :thumbsup If you want the big ones, go on the lake by the dam, if you have a boat there's a free launch right by the dam, if you dont have a boat you can park there and fish the shores :thumbsup

Damn Coz, I have been going to Parker my whole life and never caught a stripper that big. Nice Catch.

At 2 am when i come back from Roadrunner, i have a reel with 3 lb line on it. We throw some cheese on the end and go after the carp. With 3 lb line, it makes it somewhat fun. :D

fishparkeraz.com mentioned something about catching shad. Are there shad in the parker strip?

When I caught them there were schools of shad running like I've never seen, and I'm talking clouds of shad, and there were a bunch of stripers going after the shad, I could look down from the dock and see it :D these pics were a 3+ years ago and never seen anything like it since :D

My buddy fishes from the time we get there until the time we go home.He uses berkely worms(dont leave them in the sun).Around the dock at big bend there is huge catfish, pretty much small mouth bass everywhere.UP near the damm below coz around the big rock pile is good area to try.

I can tell you that using chunks of chicken as bait off RD's dock at 4am, you wont catch shit.

Years ago we were talking to one of the maintenance divers that go down and inspect the dam and being one of the deepest dams in the world there's some catfish down there that put the bejeebies in these guys, huge monsters, swallow a man in one second  so let me warn everyone, stay away from the dam & a mile below, there's man eating catfish up here :D
