I watched the Video on FB - She didn't seem to be driving fast enough to be out there with the Big Boys!!! Throttles don't even look to be passed half way forward - "Clean Pass in My Book!!"

Are there any screen shots of it making the pass towards the front of the boat? Like almost past the HTM? Where is the video posted?

Andy in that thing that says "unable to embed" you can click "watch on facebook" it was posted in riverwhips. After that screenshot, the camera goes down to the floor, then looks back up as they get wet

Video on River Whips FB Page. Watched the video, he had no line to get past her center of lake. If he tried to get to the center, he would of ate prop wash. HTM did not hold line, kept moving towards shore. If anything boat needed to hug the shore for a longer period of time as he passed.

Update
Watched again, HTM did not hold line and kept moving towards the shore. And it was not the Dial 911 Skater. Sorry for th3 confusion

In the video when the camera pans forward there is a small peninsula on the right that they both need clear, he is already inside and she flat didn't leave room - the rooster wet down the whole HTM

Dial 911.PNG

This is the very end of the video, this boat looks more like dial 911 with the big scoops, correct? Both boats do look very similar.

Hard to tell from video, can anyone tell where they are on the lake? It looks like maybe coming around black meadow landing or by steamboat cove? Might be why the HTM was veering right?

I found the video and watched it, there is no excuse for that action. None, the Skater has to suspect the HTM could go anywhere. If she turned right does he have the right of way to run her over? NO. Bad move, makes the sport look bad, and that was the 120 mph group not the first group. Lake is not closed for the Poker Run.

My opinion (which means nothing) is she pinned him against the shore without leaving another way to pass. Too slow to be out there w the big boys. Again just my opinion from watching the video

His throttles were stuck? He couldn't let off as he approached her, slowed down, passed around the transom of her and continued on?

Like I said imo she made a bad move and or choice and is in the way. Not going to argue it that’s my opinion

Me I hold my line and look for traffic behind me before veering left or right. Could she have done that?especially if pinning someone on shore. And even more so if I know I’m running in front of boats doing 100+

Let’s remember, its the river and the faster more expensive boat always has the right away. ;)

It doesn’t say that in the AZGF rule book but it’s something I never challenged in 34 years of river life. [emoji4]

Bottom line, just because you can afford 120 mph, doesn't mean you have the skill to drive it. If someone would have been killed, it would mean big trouble for one of the coolest events in boating. Large hi speed cats need to pick their spots, because they can't make sudden moves in direction at speed - this is where the skill/judgement comes in. It doesn't matter who was "right" when someone gets hurt/killed. If the big boat WAS right, would that make it easier to have an accident/death - i wouldn't want to be any part of that. I've been in the fastest DCB's on the water, and been passed by much slower boats, because the situation wasn't right to let loose - you have to decide who / how you run when you're on an open lake - no replacement for skill/judgement/experience. Most of the deaths in these types of boats are easily avoided with less testosterone and more judgement! Ask someone like Tony and he'll tell you the situation shouldn't have developed. He's done it all, and there's no video of him involved in anything like that. Just sayin

Everyone knows dial 911 and crew is very close friends with river whips. Maybe thats the reason the video was taken down? They sure like to self promote how fast drive on social media and the web...

The second boat that I posted a screenshot looks more like Dial 911 than the passing skater. I would say the video got pulled down because the peanut gallery on RW was not very kind to the HTM crew.

I’ve seen don London get up and speak safety at regattas before. I would be very surprised if it was him making those passes.

those boats are way fast on the water..

we left this morning... dont wont be on the water with a event like this.....
your are just asking for issues.. (no right or wrong)... stay off the water when theres events like this unless you have the boat to run with these speeds... yes its a open lake but why put yourself in risk...

Have to agree with Andy01. This is not a sanctioned race on a closed course, Skater could have backed off the gas and passed at a better time. The HTM was on the far left side of the lake to begin with, plus it wasn't like they were in the first group.

Person in Skater had a reason to be bummed, but should have backed off

Can someone please post the video. "River Whips" on Facebook banned me from their page so I can't see it. By the way if River Whips is reading this, you can go suck a big dick.

ARRESTED??????Come on...... I get the fact it might have been dumb, but criminal charges?? Really??
I bet it is Reckless endangerment, gross negligence, or something like that. Like it or not they put themselves and the entire crew in the HTM at risk. At a minimum I think the owner should be cited, there needs to be a lesson learned here. Things like this have no room for error, there are so many "what ifs". It seems to be happening each year. I know myself I don't want to see one person get hurt, it could ruin a great event or get people talking about speed limits again. Things like this get insurance companies talking on Monday morning. We have more options for high performance insurance than we ever have. One bad accident could change that.

Give the boats around you more room, lady wants to cruise in the middle of a poker run at 37 mph doing "s" turns its her lake to do it on. (not saying she was) We may not like it or agree to who is in the middle of the lake during a Poker Run but it is a water way for many uses.

Only thing I can think of is reckless endangerment...

I agree is was a dick move. My boat only does 80 or so, but if I get within sight of someone while making a rocket run, I lift, raise a fist to give the "I see you" sign, then proceed once I'm past. Something might go wrong at speed, someone may be in the water that I can't see...don't care. My shitshow is mine alone, and others should not be subjected to it.

Granted, it is a poker run...but just like you're responsible for your wake, you are also responsible for your rooster tail. If the HTM hadn't gotten hosed down, it would probably be a non-issue...but because they did...it's an issue now. That event could have caused some injuries, just from the impact of the rooster tail. I remember a time I was sitting on a dock next to a girl a few spots down from us back when I was 15 or so...I think I had my arm around her...while her Dad came by the dock with his CP tunnel...next thing I remember I was sitting on the rocks behind the dock, the girl was up on the bank...and her dad was laughing and asking me if I'd ever get that close to his daughter again....rooster tails fucking hurt.

Andy I both respect your stance, as well as understand it. I can also agree that maybe a citation should be written. My stance, is that an arrest is a giant overstep in need. That said, what about the boat that splits the 2 boats in Carters video he posted? Nobody got washed, but that whole deal leaves questions in my mind. What if EITHER of the 2 boat lose a drive? What if the other boats wake causes one of the others to crash? Again, I respect your opinion, just asking to see what others think.

Funny you bring that up, I watched the video and thought "wtf". The three boats that are heading across the lake seem to be okay, but the boat spliter? What the fuck was he thinking? Was he texting and boating? Why wouldn't that person pass on the port side of the far boat, why go down the middle? Why people split boats like that or pass on the right is beyond me. I never pass on the inside and I don't split two boats. You see that shit going up to Pirates every time I go, one of the biggest reasons I don't go up to Pirates is the people that do this shit, they have no clue on right side versus left side and or direction of traffic on the lake.

I'm really curious why river whips took the post down? Did the Sheriffs Department order them to take it down? Or did someone in the Skater make a call?

I'll pass on whatever side leaves me most room as long as it's safe. If I've gotta hug the shore and I know it's deep enough...fine, so long as I can give the boat I'm overtaking a wide berth. Doesn't matter if its on the left or the right. I run an outboard, so I need 12" of water....I can pretty much go where I want...and I run the river below parker. If I'm not mistaken...this event is taking place on a fucking lake...that's probably more than 400 ft. wide....and trimmed out, that skater needs...what...12"? 18" of water? There is no reason for that or any boat on that body of water to be within 200 ft of any other boat...especially at those speeds.

I was able to save the video, I’ll try and repost it here where it won’t get taken down.

I'm really curious why video's not posted here? Does anyone have the stones or link to see it? Sharing is caring and "Inquirer minds want to watch";)
