Talked to a buddy of mine yesterday who lives in the palisades....he picked up and said "what do you need...I'm driving around in a firetruck...shit's gonna get spicy".

He runs the "Community Brigade" and has been working his ass off on this since 2018 when his folks house burned....

Well dang it shintoooo, this isn’t the type of “anything burning yet?” thread I was sort of expecting to see today after the election humor wise of course.😔

This blows and I do hope for the best possible outcome to all this.

Be safe out there everyone.

🤦 Everytime a fire breaks out during high winds I get a bit nervous.

I heard over 200 homes gone. Man do I feel bad for them. Steve Gibbs of nitro revival fame just posted up they lost theirs up in the heights. Sad deal. And he just moved up here from Orange County.

Let's turn the power off because the wind is blowing. The pumps can't run without power. Morons

They should have backup generators. During the Thomas Fire in Ventura. Same thing happened except the city never had backup generators installed to replenish the water tanks.

Well instead of BU gens, they did send out an alert that area homeowners shouldn't water their lawns in order to preserve water for fire fighting --- 🤦‍♂️

It went over the next set of hills towards Santa Paula already, I'm pretty sure that is Santa Rosa valley, I did flight training over that area.

That’s not Santa Rosa Valley. You can see the “San V” of Santa Rosa valley between the 118 and 101 on the right of your second picture.

Luckily going into Santa Paula. Backing down off south mountain there’s a few homes but it would have to get through the Santa Clara river to get to the town of Santa Paula where a majority of homes are.

If you’re familiar with Camarillo, you’re familiar with Los Posas CC, Spanish Hills CC and Camarillo heights. That’s where most of the homes were lost, miles from the Santa Rosa Valley. We lived in Camarillo for 20 years, just off of Santa Rosa Road, which runs down the middle of Santa Rosa Valley. That area did not burn. BTW - passing thru Camarillo the 101 runs pretty much east & west.

I’m live in Somis. Fought fires all day yesterday and been putting out flare ups and smoldering embers all last night and today. Saved my property and my neighbors properties. If we didn’t stay and fight they would be piles of ash. 6 guys, my tractor, neighbors tractor, hoses, shovels, and chainsaws. My 72 year old dad (retired LA County Fire chief) fighting beside me. Luckily we have a couple personally owned water tanks between us for irrigating orchards with 1 1/2” hose hookups. Not our first rodeo. Fire department resources got spread thin out here so you are on your own or evacuate. They had to get to the neighborhoods of Camarillo for structure protection. Winds have died down. Fire headed east now towards Fillmore and moorpark. Devastating couple days for our community. So many homes lost. Didn’t reallly have time to stop and take photos during the shit. Had some 20’ tall fire lines in the beginning until we got a handle on it. All is calm and under control East end of Somis. Prayers to all who lost and suffered, and to those who are battling as we speak. Thank you to all the fireman tirelessly doing everything they can for as many as they can.
