Finish cloth on both sides, some old black gelcoat and glassed in "T" nuts.

Probably, but that is a project that no one likes doing on any recurring basis so I vote not overkill. Last set I did I just painted them black and carpeted, and through bolted them with counter sunk bolts.

I like the idea and considered this several years ago..... sounds good as long as it doesn't take on water... Once wet it'll never dry out and rot from the inside...

Last few rebuilds I paint only and no longer wrap the carpet on the bottom... Wrapping It just holds water longer and slows down the dry time... eventually the wood rotted...

Mine were done in stainless steel.
Because of the narrow fenders, the bottom was spaced out about 3/4s of an inch. Mine doesn't have much room because the hull fits so low on the trailer.
