The drastic unacceptable actions of FEMA in FL were pretty much overtaken by election news. I recall early mention of lack of FEMA support in FL during Hurricane Helene. I believe some here even said that was fake news. Now we know it was even worse than originally thought. FEMA was present, but intentionally avoided homes which visibly displayed support for Trump. Those directions were actually put forth, in words, in an email written by a FEMA director. So, now we know exactly who she was and have learned she’s been fired. WTF! Firing is not enough. She was illegally misallocating federal funds and assistance. I have to assume that is a crime. What if she had not been exposed? How long would this have continued? I’m curious what the inmates who live in FL may think about this.

Better yet, she claims she was working under a directive from above. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out; did she misinterpret instructions, or was she actually following them?

I'll just say turnabout is fair play. Dems can expect 4 years of the finger from FEMA under Trump.

Sucks don't it Dimwits when the shoe is on the other foot. Expect more viral videos of whiny liberals.
Unfortunately no, this will not happen. Republicans keep "standing for our principles."

At some point, republicans need to understand that the democrats use our principles against us, because they do not fight with principles. They demand free speech when out of power, demand censorship when in power. They scream about how Trump will weaponize the DOJ if he gets power, while they weaponize the DOJ to attack political enemies in power. They use everything they claim we will do when they are in power, then scream about how unfair it would be if we did it back.

This is like Trump's tariff plans. Those only affect trade if we are already in a trade war. We would only be responding in kind.

I hope the republicans could see their way to do this with the weaponization of government, but we won't.

My recent post from the other thread...

The FEMA director:

In announcing Washington’s termination, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said the directive was a violation of the agency’s “core values and principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation.”

Let's check those "core values."

Goal 1 - Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management

Underserved communities, as well as specific identity groups, often suffer disproportionately from disasters. As a result, disasters worsen inequities already present in society.

This cycle compounds the challenges faced by these communities and increases their risk to future disasters. By instilling equity as a foundation of emergency management and striving to meet the unique needs of underserved communities, the emergency management community can work to break this cycle and build a more resilient nation.

The importance of equity in emergency management is not a new concept. The Stafford Act requires FEMA assistance be delivered in an equitable manner without discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, language accessibility, or economic status. However, this cannot be done through a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, FEMA must be aware of, and responsive to, the needs of different individuals and communities to ensure that the benefits of FEMA programs are available.

See that bolded text? They admit their plan is to ignore the law and do whatever the fuck they wish. This is literally "Goal 1," it's prominently featured on FEMA's main webpage.

Still haven't seen 1 fema sign, truck or anything else in the Sarasota, Venice or Nokomis area.
Having mentioned this more than once now, it would seem you're expecting some large local FEMA presence.
What type of vehicle(s) are you expecting to see and for what purpose ?

Following the '07 fires I never did either, or was I expecting to. Despite the wide spread devastation, and having been declared a Federal Disaster Area, there were numerous available facilities and emergency vehicles available to satisfy the needs of the affected communities. At one local aid event I saw at most a couple of sedans with gov plates. We didn't require emergency vehicles or semi-trucks to hand out money vouchers or a FEMA ID number allowing for certain retail discounts.
Local infrastructure was still intact as were all the county emergency vehicles, just as I assume this hurricane wasn't Florida's first Hurricane Rodeo either.

Um…Didn’t I read on this site that all allegations of FEMA misconduct is “misinformation” being spread by uninformed people?
(Note extreme sarcasm)

For the record there are people still in jail from the whole Puerto Rico hurricane Maria fiasco in 2017.
It took 5 full years to sort out the crimes.
As of 2021 an audit of fema funds found that less than 1% of the $12 billion allotted by FEMA to repair power infrastructure on the island was actually spent on the power grid.
A year later it was no better, with 80% of the power infrastructure still down in 2022.
We won’t even get into the FEMA food side of it.
Those “expired” MRE’s were purposely held in warehouses all over the island until within 1 year of expiration because then they can be legally sold to the highest bidder…in a nation that lives with a 35% “food insecurity” rating. Dave is absolutely correct when he says there were row after row of them.
Yeah…FEMA…money laundering at its finest.
