Bought a watch in Vegas and to save over a grand in tax, they overnighted it to me…

Flew it from Vegas to Memphis, then flew it to Phoenix, and either flew it on a caravan… or drove it, to Havasu to deliver it by 1PM. 2.5 hours from the original point of shipment.

The logistics in that, let alone the mileage, boggles my mind. 😂

The question is what watch? :) I buy most of mine from Exquisite Time Pieces in Florida to avoid sales tax myself.

ah, 116610 or 126610, I can't remember whether it was 2018 or 2019 when the model switched. For many many new brands, check exquisite out as an AD, they now have Tudor even, no Rolex of course. No one wants to sell me a new rolex yet.

I got tired of playing the AD game. I never understood having them in the first place if you have to guzzle their gravy to get them to sell you one. Super protective of their brand eh?

AP took it back in house, Patek will soon follow. Rolex is just obnoxious when they make over a million watches a year, its a false scarcity with them, and the vault in each AD overflowing with the wanted models, they are just selling them out the back door, not the front, unless of course you buy the jewelry at 500% mark up or give them a go with your wife.

All FedEx overnight stuff goes to Memphis every day, has been that way since day one.

Memphis is their hub. Most, not all, “express” packages go to Memphis then onto their locations. I ship hundreds a week through them and always have to deal with Memphis weather even shipping from Havasu to anywhere.

I think UPS used to (still does?) send the overnight shipments through their Worldport in Louisville, KY. Definitely Wild. Must be a reason for the logistics of overnight shipments.

lol so I’ve always heard this. If I walked in and tried to buy a watch behind the glass will they just flat out say no?

I knew Memphis was the main hub of hubs, for sure. The organization for that to go 3/4 of the way across the county, and essentially all the way back across the country to its destination in 21 hours, is impressive.

My Uncle left Continential Airlines (A/P-Electronics tech) way back and went to work for FedEx.

Almost everything from FedEx goes to the main hub first. Memphis.

If its going from AZ to CA, it goes to Memphis first.

A Rolex store, absolutely. Or they’ll say they only have such and such (probably a day date) in stock.

You won't see anything behind the glass, if so, it will say "display purposes only". there will be some woman's watches, or maybe some precious metal mens watches, but you won't be able to buy anything you would want. Submariner, a GMT, Daytona, OP, hell, maybe one weird combo date just in a small size, that would be your best shot.

They will decide how cool of a guy you are, how much money you make, whether you have a wife, and how much BS jewelry they can sell you first dangling the carrot of a watch in your future.

Or, they will tell you to fuck off with a variation of "Our demand is still out stripping our supply, so we are not currently taking any requests for any sports model watches" - That is they won't even take your name down.

Or, they will say something like "we currently have a 13 year wait list", which is another variation on "fuck off". You find that out by being asked to be put on such wait list, then they will refer to the other line above.

This is why I like Omega and other brands, however, one of the coolest watches ever is a Rolex GMT Master II, so I still do want that particular one.

I hear Ferrari plays this game as well. Hermes and others for designer hand bags and such, any others anyone can think of?

The guys and girls at the store in the Wynn were really nice, but when they started asking what I do for a living, and then asking if I was going to wear this watch at work… I was done. Fucks it matter what I do for a living..? I walked in here with the cash to buy that watch right there in the case I’m pointing at…. I’ll give you the cash, you give me the watch…..

Oh.. sorry.. we can take your name and maybe in 4 years we will call you.

I have 3 or 4 nice Seikos that I haven’t worn in years. Don’t even wear a watch anymore. Retired and don’t give a rats ass what time, day or month it is anymore. If I need the time I look at my phone.

At least they charge dollars for shipping. When we send holiday cards out (anything for that matter), some go just a couple miles away from our house they still get routed from Simi through Santa Clarita and back to Simi, all for .73

I’d rock the shit out of this at work
This is officially the best watch ever, Casio AE-1200, Worldtimer, 150m water resistant, can track multiple time zones on the same screen, and for under 20 bucks on amazon. I wear it proudly.

Is that the same one James Bond uses to triangular the location of nuclear radiation and also shoot a laser capable of cutting through handcuffs?

I get it completely! It’s never been about knowing the time or date for me, when it comes to this particular watch.

Congrats!!

I bought my dad a very clean sub date for his 60th birthday back in 2019. Prices doubled 12 months later, I wish I woulda bought one for myself… so annoying 😂

There's a FedEx hub at the Indianapolis airport that employs 4,000 and sorts over 99,000 packages per hour according to their website.

I don't understand these claims of inflated prices, shortages, and withheld sales. A couple of years ago, I bought a stainless GMT Master from a street entrepreneur in Manhattan's Chinatown for $40.

I’m not a Watch guy. I’m a car guy, and I don’t like being robbed a gunpoint. And B,

That said what are you guys think of this watch.
I just pulled it off the web, but I saw the watch in Dubai earlier this year. I don’t like heavy watches this like just right.

Funnily enough, the nickname of this watch is the Casio Royale, for its resemblance to a Seiko that Roger Moore wore in one film.

Nice watch for sure! if that's brand new its a decent deal. Think they are a tad over 40K retail.

Not all the time, but they will usually MAKE you start out with a much lower demand unit and make you work your way up. Now if you are a big potential buyer or have a decent connection (which is the way to go) then you can get on short waiting list). Secondary markets have a ton of deals you just have to search. I have a buddy that buys a watch every other month and he walks in and gets whatever watch he wants then when bored puts them on the secondary market for high demand units and makes at least 25% up to 50% on THE WATCH TO HAVE that month lol but he has spent so much on watches I think he is nuts.
