My 2015 F150 with a Gen 2 Coyote 5.0 currently has 252k miles on it. Haven’t done anything motor wise except replacing the VCT Solenoids. I am leaning towards just dropping a rebuilt engine in when the time comes as there is nothing wrong with the truck as of now and I still enjoy the drive in it.

Can these things be rebuilt as good as factory new or am I just fooling myself and should just try to get a low’ish mileage takeout and see what happens?

They can be rebuilt all day long. Money wise, a low mile used engine will be the cheaper alternative.

Buy a used short block, rebuild your heads, replace the timing chain water pump, ect.

I had my V6 Tacoma done this way, the total cost was $6500 2 years ago.

5.0 is a good engine that people used for resto-mods. Lots of good ones out there in wrecked cars and trucks. Also plenty of aftermarket support here too.

New oem
New aftermarket
Oem wrecked
Rebuild
Are all good options

Depends on cost as well. I’m Not familiar with ford engines though either.

I have a Chevy with gasser 6.0 269k gonna run it to 325 then rebuild it re cam it and call it good. But I am familiar with chevys and can do it good so cost wise for me it would be cheaper.

Have no clue what their rep is or quality but just to give you an idea of rebuilt with two options seems like a decent price. 4600 for basic 6k for all tbs updated parts. Again I have no clue about their rep or quality but just did a quick search.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But to answer your question, yes, they can be rebuilt better than new. Just depends who does it.

Just get a remanufactured, no telling how well the used one was maintained

I've purchased hundreds of Jasper reman engines they either blow up right away or go the distance , when they blow up at least there under warranty .
I've had surprisingly great luck with jasper. ATK on the other hand.
