Anyone know what the vertical things are? One blew up last night at our local substation (short to ground)...........hellofa noise...big debris field.

The chunck on the ground is an insolator.

That's a ceramic material and thick. I have a pic someplace of a 8"x 8" piece stuck into a wire impregnated window. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Thats a CCVT, which is used for metering data. Helps in the accounting / selling/ buying of energy.

That’s is a PT ,
Potential transformer , they take the high voltage , and reduce to to 120 volts for relay protection , and other types of metering , looks like 230, or 500 kv


I just got back from the substation.........this is exactly what the power company peeps tell me. Also was told the "explosion" is sorta suspicious................

Wifey said power was out so she went to bed If I was home I would lit the place up like an airport just to piss of the fucks that live around us , fire up both gen sets
