I hate you tube. All I needed to do was watch the video of the Trifecta that Dave put out and go back to work. Here I am an hour later with a million ideas for dry concrete projects around the house.

What projects are y'all going to try now since you're going to do the same damn thing...lol

I have a new Asian neighbor that was out at night extending his driveway (for like a week). I'm here talking shit to my wife about how he doesn't know how to mix concrete and how he was pouring the dry bags in the frame.

Looked it up and sure as shit people are dry pouring all kinds of shit. I'm still a little old school and have my doubts but sure looks easier than the old wheelbarrow mixing 🤣😂

Wow, didn't know that was a thing.

Probably fine for stepping stones, walkways, etc. I would never do this for anything remotely structural, or load bearing. I.E - driveway, house slab, retaining wall, etc. Theres people on youtube putting alot of trust in drypour just because they saw some dude in a video do it lol.

It started coming up in my YT feed as well. I was looking how to make a concrete curb for a planter. Saw nothing on dry when I was looking a few weeks ago. Then this past week, it’s been full of dry concrete vids. Like they’re pushing it. 🤔

The Winchester Family have made billions of dollars selling quikrete and dry pour material. Just amazes me people do it. Google Quikrete retaining wall for a good sample of insanity.

I'm the same way, but a couple of guys have done experiments and have found the concrete is wet all the way through. My first project is going to be a fire pit area with concrete pads and artificial turf between them.

I can't remember the last time we mixed concrete to set a post, I have dug several up after the post broke and never have had a problem with the concrete curing.

I told my old man that the make shift Quikrete wall he built in a hole of his retaining wall wasn't going to last; it has been holding up well for 15 years with half that time being underwater 24/7.

Shower pans is all we do dry so we can slope it easier before the water but red bags of quickcrete for fence posts has saved a ton of work over my years. No mixing and they are only 60lb. This is still standing after 50-70mph gusts in bad wind.

I had a boss who only bought 90lb bags of mix-it crete to save $0.30. F him.

Punch the hole with a pressure washer. Suck it out with a shop vac. Drop the post. Little more water. Bag. Lift post to get aggregate under it. Little more water. Next

Real men use the 90lb bags and 90lb jackhammers. 60lb bags and 60lb jackhammers were made for the Chevy guys.
I have 4 Chevys . Just added a Ford to the fleet.

Homeowners use 90 lb pre mix bags. Those are for post holes and cracked slabs.

Real cement comes in 94 lb sacks. And you add mix. I am being lazy today. No mixing for Me. Going to finish it and stamp it though. Ocean breeze kicking in now.
