Bout time!

I’m sure that stupid ass casino boat doesn’t help anything. I hate that Fuckin thing.
That fucking boat should not be allowed in the channel. We were on the beach Thanksgiving week (across from Windsor) and that mother fucker came by us with a 2' wave behind it (hauling ass). Pulled my boat off of the beach and soaked me standing on the beach trying to hang on to it. Fuck that boat!

Yep. Fucker pushed me into a shallow area in the north channel and i juuuuuust clipped a rock with one prop. Luckily only tiny little scratch but yeah, fuck that ass hat! Channel is WAY to small for it to be running through. And seriously, that thing throws mad prop wash, can’t be good for the channel.

Even when they are going below wake speed the surge from the displacement (53 tons) of that thing is crazy. I cruised over to them after they docked the boat and tried to talk to one of the crew members and he shut the door on me mid conversation. I hope that fucker sinks.

So, is it true our tax dollars paid for the entire $10 million for the casino taxi?

Found this:

After being trucked from Seattle to its launch site in Lake Havasu, the Tecopa entered into regular service in 2012. FHWA funding covered $2.95 million, the majority of the $3.45 million overall cost. In addition to the vessel, FHWA grant money helped cover the cost of purchasing land and the construction of a ferry terminal to serve Lake Havasu City.

I really don’t know if it would do any good, but you guys should complain to the Coast Guard or the city.
I have filed a complaint with the CG and talked to the PD and they basically said they won't do anything. Next is to send a letter to the mayor with a CC to the council and the police chief.

It seems like since they moved the no wake buoys out further from the channel entrance the Tecopa goes even faster through the no wake area. They need to change their schedule if they have to break wake speed to stay on time.

They should just dredge it out and concrete line the banks like the LA River.

Might put a dent in the channel crowd but then someone can invent channel “beach” bumpers so you can still beach the boat.

Then we wouldn't have the water cannon threads

No one has mentioned that the CA tribe that rakes in the money from the casino, sends their kids to Havasu schools, using their boat, that taxpayers paid for.

Well, if I had a kid in CA, I'd send them to AZ to get edumacated also.

For all you Tecopa fans, just thought I'd let you know they're building another one.😂 slightly larger with a view out the front, it'll be done in about two years.

What do they do with the dredge material? 🤮

Id assume the silt isn’t coming from up river but sliding in from the banks of the channel over time, which dredging it would create a beach/ bank issue long term unless they leave the dredge on the beach

Move the entire operation to SITE SIX / Plenty of Room for Parking & Deeper water for the Tonage !
This will also eliminate possible liability for LHC & CRIT in the CHANNEL .....😎

Does LHC get a stipend from the Casino to allow that Monstrosity in the channel? Not sure what benefit it is to the city? Also, I'm pretty sure if I threw a 2' Wake in the channel the LEO's would be on me like white on rice. Everybody sees it happening. Is somebody going to have to get run over and die before this is corrected?

Jeezus, I get not being a fan of the shuttle for various reasons but some of y'all have got a major hard-on over it.
I mean really, I've had my boat bounced off the beach by a plowing waverunner.
And obviously the powers in charge major concern was the narrow entrance at the south end.....which gets a lot of soil from the wash that empties there.
Maybe they should implement a new rule to make it illegal to power your boat up onto the beach so it doesn't push all the sand down.🙄🙄🤣🤣
The lake will still be there tomorrow guys, don't fret.😊

I mean, im Not losing sleep over it. But if you’ve even had to navigate past it in a high cross wind when the channel is busy, it’s flat out dangerous. Thing is way to big to navigate the channel, especially in the areas where the channel has gotten shallow. Doesn’t help zero fucks given by captain as he’s barreling down the channel.

On to the actual topic of this thread…awesome they are dredging that south point. Shit was TIGHT through there!

How can we find out if the city actually benefits from it.

So just curious. Doesn’t the shutttle boat bring in money to the local shops from tourists and from the residents on the other side of the lake. I know a few would leave a car/truck on the City side and go shopping for things they couldn’t buy on the Landing side.

Just in case you don’t know?
A Vessal is responsible for their wake. When I am at work “ Capt. on 90 foot fireboat” when ever I see kayakers or small boats I slow down to minimum wake.. if I sink or capsize them it’s on me. Maybe let the casino boat capt. know that.
The pilot boat in SF. Ran full speed down the Oakland estuary and demasted and ripped cleats off docks and boats in various marinas. Like 3 million dollars worth. They had to pay for it.

this was needed but....

where can I see the tannest humans in the world next summer? This was their spot
That group was a kick. We did an early morning bike ride around the island. They were nice enough to invite us to breakfast. We politely declined.

You guys talking about 2' wakes and barreling through the channel are exaggerating a bit. As much as you guys may hate it, it is something we really can't do without living over here in The Landing. Most of us keep car on the AZ side and Ferry over there often for groceries, going out to dinner and whatever other shopping we have to do. Without it we are driving at least an hour up to Fort Mohave for those needs. I took it over today and spent money at 3 different locations over there. I took the opportunity to snap a couple pics of the humongous wake it throws out. Some on the way in from the shore then 1 off the back of the boat when leaving.

Sorry, gotta say “TECOPA “ creating wake in Channel is Bullshit. No doubt about it gotta stay out of Tecopa way, also the Capt of that boat has incredible responsibility navigating that boat.He is on his own round trip every hour of the day.
The constant complaining & whining about just about everything around here become a fucking joke. Snow birds,Tecopa, tourists etc you name it.WTF

When the Landing boat docked on the island side, we'd love running up to Javalina, a quick bite and margaritas, and be back to take the next boat home. After the dock was changed to the other side, no way we could climb the stairs, over the bridge and back in an hour. As said, it is a necessary evil, but as far as any lawsuits....you ever try suing the CRIT Indians? Fuggitaboutit.

So let me get this straight. Some of the RDP brain trust are blaming the need to dredge a beach on the Thompson Bay side of the whole shebang on Tecopa? 'Splain me dat one.

Oh, and BTW it is not CRIT. Different tribe...

I dont think the tecopa has anything to do with the south side of the channel bottlenecking. I don’t even know if it plays into it on the north side. I do know that there’s shallow spots and narrow areas and that big fucker pushed me into a shallow spot and never even slowed. They were moving at a good clip “pushing” people out of the way, meanwhile the flow was at like 2 mph.

I mean I get complaining about shit gets old but when you have SO MANY negative stories about it, where there’s smoke there’s fire usually.

I was the first one to bring it up in this thread and it was kinda tongue and cheek. But I do 100% believe it’s way to big for the channel and at times dangerous. Specifically crowded weekends.

The boat is owned by the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe.

"The Colorado River Indian Tribes is a federally recognized tribe consisting of the four distinct ethnic groups associated with the Colorado River Indian Reservation: the Mohave, Chemehuevi, Hopi, and Navajo. The tribe has about 4,277 enrolled members. "

My understanding is the Chemehuevi "Pow Wow" with CRIT, but operate independently. I don't know what that exactly means, but I do know they didn't follow CRIT during COVID for example. I don't think the Chemehuevi and CRIT share any revenues. Heck, I could have that whole bit wrong, but my lease is with the Chemehuevi. not CRIT.

One of the things I like about Havasu is that it has a marine economy. Boats are part of the deal. The Belle, Pirate thingamajig and especially the Ferry. People and parts and groceries move across the Lake. Money flows both ways. Money flows to the north and to the south. That doesn't really happen anywhere else in the same manner on the Colorado. Maybe you can argue Powell, but I still say Havasu is unique. It attracts boat builders, and some of them go faster than others like, it attracts paddle boarders, and they go slower than some like. Heck we have sail boats too. I like the whole flippin' deal.

I'm with you on that. I pay my fees to Chemehuevi Intian Tribe, but my understanding is they are backed by CRIT, so any lawsuits include the entire Colorado River Indian Tribes. I also know San Manuel Tribe is a deep investor, so that really muddies the water.

You're right about the responsibility, they always have the Coast Guard looking over their shoulder, the tribe doesn't put up with any B.S. either.

Tank,
Nothing but respect for you Tank. You got more miles backing a Cigarette down ramps into Florida,Ventura,Oxnard waters than most of us have towing. Doubt a few ripples in Lake Havasu bother you guys. 👍

Havasu Landing been our full time home for 15 years. I run my business in So Cal remote, very seldom leave here. Many people around here think my wife single. LoL. I keep to myself, guess that why never a minute problem with the tribe, many good friends around this community.
