I'd forgotten about reading in one of the local papers that this film was being made. Released in '13. These events were right here in our backyard although I didn't hear about them until the 3rd year, probably because I wasn't a skateboarder. I went to that 3rd one and for some reason thought there were no more but there was one in '78.

Anyway its a pretty good film full of characters that invented this crazy shit. I grew up going to the hill to watch the Model T hill climbs and my kids loved going down in my old pickup but on a skateboard, no fucking way.

Anyone remember the guy who went down the cajon pass on a skateboard? Went to high school with him and he worked for my dad doing stucco for a while.

This is one of my favorite things to do. 40 mph is about the limit of my equipment. I have been looking at new precision trucks to put down a serious run on a big hill without the wobbles but then I remember that I am not as young as I used to be, fat and have two kids who kinda need me around. That said I probably price stuff out about once a month. There is a trail by my house that starts up by cooks corner and goes all the way to Laguna. Up by Cooks its a progressive downhill almost the entire way. There are some hairy parts and people, dogs, bikes, kids always make it interesting but its a shit load of fun. I use uber or my wife as a chair lift.

These guys have a great website for people looking to get into it. https://www.muirskate.com/

The pros are amazing to watch so freaking smooth. Great video thanks for posting.

helmets and leather suits, closed streets. Pussies. This guy is the real deal.

The hill's still there. I'll dig up some 46 year old trucks, wheels and a board and your real deal (or you) can do it with no leathers or helmet.

Hell I'll even make you a board if you can do it.

One of my hobbies is making longboards, of course I don't ride them!

I was born and grew up not to far from signal hill.
Pops took us to the final down hill. Crazy shit
I hit it years later after we moved with my skatepunk buddies. Get all fukt up, ok we’re ready let’s go. Lol
Later teen years had moved to diamond bar and we hit grand ave from the top ( country entrance ) down hill prob a mile or so. Our street and or ramp boards would not exceed 50mph. We literally would have cars pull us up grand and at 49 ok, 50 and you can feel the board drag like someone’s putting on the brakes.
We did both standing up and laying. No helmets, no gloves, no pads. Just invincible dumb stoned kids.
So fun back then.

Had a buddy who rep'd for Sector 9 skateboards years ago. We'd test out new models around Spyglass Hill . . . but we'd only carve back and fourth, not bomb straight, that's nuts . . . one time a friend picked up too much speed and couldn't slow down . . . so he tried to ride it out instead of bailing-out . . . he got the speed wobbles and ate it right in front of all of us . . . scary deal cause he was going really fast and just missed a block wall . . . he ended of breaking his shoulder so bad the doctor had the surgery video recorded for the state medical board. It blew one of his arm bones right through his shoulder blade shattering it . . . spent 9 months in a cast/sling . . . and a year and a half in physical therapy . . . sketch.

Thanks for posting this, it brings back memories. 👍👍
It was nice seeing Tina Trefethen in the film as I haven't thought of her in quite some time. The last time I visited with her was at her parents house on the hill in '89.
