This is not political but business related

Has DOGE had any impact on you or the business you work at or own?

We are seeing a ton of immediate request for radio products we make for the FAA and more. The timeline is like space x, just need it ASAP.

What about you all?

I’m in telecom, from what I am hearing it has put billions of dollars of BEAD money on hold.

Luckily my company was not reliant on it.

We aren’t in the gov sector at all so no impact to us.

Is the demand you’re seeing related to DOGE, if so, do you know how?

Direct request from DOGE. Has trumps and elons signature. We are also getting a request for a NSA approved cell phone and to build more phones in the pentagon and White House

And in the case of Puerto Rico, criminal.
I haven’t checked lately but there still might be people in jail over the whole hurricane Maria scandal.
According to FEMA guideline's, when stored MRE’s are within 1 year of expiration they can legally be sold to the highest bidder by the original recipient and possessor of the rations. (Puerto Rico government in that case).
It’s estimated that post 2017, in the wake of Maria, over $24.5 million of FEMA aid was misappropriated, withheld by the distributing recipients, or outright stolen.
You saw the rows of MRE’s. I’m sure what you bought was merely a fraction of what they had stored…in a country that exists at an estimated 35% - 50% or so food insecurity index.
(That’s a measurement of what % of people don’t know where their next meal is coming from)

Food insecurity before the hurricanes (October 2017) was 30-60%, or 1.5 million people, with child food insecurity at 56%. After the hurricanes (2017- 2019) food insecurity was estimated to be at least 85%.
Of course, that’s dropped since then and the subsequent prosecutions of Puerto Rico government officials.
The MRE’s you bought were likely from the post 2017 hurricane relief efforts since that would put them within the legal range of the one year expiration?
There is nothing illegal about it, the crime occurred earlier by the government (recipient/ possessor) withholding the food from distribution.
I assume your purchase was maybe from a 3rd party who took possession of the rations from the government, like a vendor?
Withholding food distribution until the food can be legally sold is just a small part of FEMA scandals.

We had six aircraft firefighting leases cancelled.

Moved three aircraft to Greece and three to Canada under new contracts in those countries so no net harm.

Over the last three days, I’ve seen several notices of force majeure (acts of God) pre-claims, on signed construction contracts (with projects in construction) due to the upcoming tariffs. It will be interesting to see how this goes down.

Both Frustration of Purpose and Commercial Impracticability will be used. It will be very interesting.

International sales are down....but weren't real big for me to begin with, so not a real big hit. I spoke with a customer in NZ yesterday who I supply bulk components and cataloging info to (due to outrageous shipping costs...it works better for everyone if he can simply assemble the kits as they're ordered instead of stock 400 finished kits)....but he is struggling with US products in his customer base.... a quote "We are also seeing a massive pushback on products deemed to be of US origin due to your spectacular leader"

Luckily, the stuff I sell him is all Chinese lol.

Not specifically DOGE but the transition of power in the FCC has really put a question mark on federal funding for school districts for network equipment, and now cybersecurity funding for these networks. The previous FCC chair got the cybersecurity program off the ground, and the new FCC has promised not to continue it. Seems odd considering how important cybersecurity is, and the Feds have been decently capable of funding the program and auditing it.

Is it wasteful, not in my opinion. Should it be funded at a state and local level? It could but state and local funding aren't large enough, and socioeconomic issues exist with local funding depending on the area. Feds seem better at raising the money and allocating it.

Note that this program is funded by the Lifeline program.
