I’m on the border of Chino and Pomona so fireworks are year round, but the dogs still hate it. Well, they have already started and my dogs are hating it. One can deal with it until mortars go off, and the other one is shivering and won’t sleep. Poor doggies! Going to Benadryl them a bit early tomorrow

Hope all pets get through this weekend!

Hit up your Vet and ask to get the dogs some trazadone. We don't have any fireworks scared dogs anymore, but that's what we had the ones that were on. Start them on it today if possible and it'll really help.

The Pom is fine, our Golden is a shaking mess. Thankfully my wife works for a vet. Yes on the trazadone.

Chino is pretty rough. When we lived in chino my brother and I would spend around 1000 bucks and have full on battles with the neighbors. Lots of fun but kind of dangerous too. None of that in Norco

You might want to try this. We’ve had them for our Westie and 2 Old English Sheepdogs with good success. Not perfect but it does help a lot. They actually like getting them put on.

Chino is like a war zone.

Our dog has gotten more skiddish over the years. We are taking her to the dog sitter in Diamond Bar where it’s not as bad. We’ve tried Benadryl and the Thundershirt, didn’t work. She gets freaked out if a delivery truck drives by. 🙄

My dog doesn’t give a shit…except when we try to light off some of the little guys from the corner fireworks stand…gotta have him on leash because he tries to kill ‘em.

Stick of dynamite are the early celebration entertainment choice this year. Cat and dog don't mind.

My dogs actually look outside and watch but I feel for the ones that get scared. I think it’s one of the worst days for lost pets.

Thunder shirt, happy hoodie, some downers from the vet, and a night in the bathroom should help. That’s what my friends used to do for their lab.

Our pups head to “it’s a dog world K9 academy” today for 2 weeks of training in Chino. Wife just asked if fireworks are typical for the area. Guess this is my answer, we have no idea how they will do. 🤞

Yeah it gets pretty crazy. The safe and sane Fireworks are legal here, which means it’s a good cover for the illegal ones. I know they have outside kennels. Hopefully, they bring them inside and have people there.

Get a lab,my dog is not fazed by fireworks. But she is a hunting dog, runs around looking for a duck when they go boom.
One is a lab, Bosco- he is good with gun shots and most fireworks. But, when some of these big ones hit, the house shakes. Those are the ones that get to him

Hope your pup has a good stay away from all the noise. That’s a good idea

Benadryl works a little bit if I start it early enough, but the neighborhood next to ours seems to start at all times of the day. Thunder-shirt also didn’t work for ours.

My mom’s good friend has a deaf dog, she has no idea what’s going on. It is kind of nice this time of year.

I was just there yesterday and didn’t think to ask. I actually might have some in the dog medicine bin. Just will need to call to get dosage since it wasn’t prescribed to these particular dogs. Thanks!

It is a war zone- it’s definitely not as bad at places like Pico Rivera. But, the Pomona side really goes off.

Hoping your pups will be good and this experience will make them not mind fireworks. Is there a way to drop them off next week by any chance?

I'm lucky in that my dogs have been mostly Rottweilers and as a breed they are fearless when it comes to loud bangs. In Germany before you can breed Rottweilers they must pass a breed suitability test. Gun noise shyness is part of the test. Show signs of shyness when a gun goes off is a fail. July 1st is Canada's equal to July 4th. Had Bella outside when fireworks going off and she did her business like nothing was happening.

Unfortunately no, we leave for a cruise on the 5th out of TX ( damn hurricane) and they are there for 2 weeks. So it just so happened to be over the 4th. Going give the place permission to can give them something if needed.

Thanks for the heads up on the area.

I completely forgot about this experience last year.

We went next door to my brother in laws house for a question. Shortly after, I hear a mortar go off and say I’ll check on the dogs. The house was now dark and I didn’t hear Gibbs or Toby. I noticed that we left our backyard slider open. I start calling for them in the backyard knowing there’s no way out as the gates were closed. Neither of them appeared. Robert and my brother in law are now helping and we cannot find the dogs. One of them says Toby is outside the gate. He managed to sprint through the gate and get to the other side. Well, Gibbs is bigger so there’s no way he could do that. Gibbs decides to come out from where ever he was hiding from. I was in tears.

The gates now have a screen so Toby can’t escape and Gibbs is in heaven so he will be good.

The door camera’s show Toby running towards me as I go into the house, but I didn’t notice him. He runs to the side gate and back to the front door numerous times. He never decided to bark despite the fact that he barks at everything!

We are on the out skirts of Fontana and its usually like warzone.

The kennels are both out and in, so they get closed up inside with AC at night, but how quite it is IDK.

My GSP is the same. She loves it. Wants to be in the backyard all night. If you light them in front of her, she's going to try and eat them.

If I pull out a rifle, shotgun, pellet gun and point... she stops dead in her tracks and looks where I'm pointing the gun.

Hunting dogs are a different breed.

Oh yeah... my GSP is about to be 12 and still gets all amped up for guns and fireworks.

Our former Vet told us to give each a Benadryl, won't hurt them but calms them. We had those vests that snug the dogs in the past and they worked great. One of our dogs gets scared the other just watched the fireworks.

Rotties are funny...one 4th of July (I was like 6 or 7) I was outside giving Nakita a bath. The neighbor kids lit off one of those smoke bombs. I was holding her collar and she took off after it dragging my ass through the grass to attack that thing. I remember seeing the sidewalk and said I should probably let go of her collar. So I did and proceeded to watch her attack that smoke bomb.

If you’d like someone close by incase something happens, let me know. I can always go down there and check on them. I have heard good things about the faculty.
