Dog and Andy's V-Drive Run trip report (yup, boating content)

For the last 8 years or so some dudes named Dog and Andy have hosted a v-drive only gathering on the Sacramento Delta to raise funding for the San Joaquin Sheriff's Explorer and Boater Safety Programs. I was in the area visiting my grandkids and had the opportunity to drop in to this years event for couple of hours on Saturday. For the uninitiated, the event runs Thursday through Sunday and includes a fun run around the delta on Friday, and in/out of water boat show on Saturday, and award winning hangover remedies on Sunday at the Windmill Cove Marina and Resort near Stockton CA.

There were a ton of just plain beautiful boats in the water, some amazing food, a raffle with great prizes, really good live entertainment, and vibe that reminded my now 39 year old daughter of her younger days growing up in Parker.

Also, while there was a strong presence of SJ Sheriff deputies, speed runs out in front of the resort were frequent and un-encumbered.

If you ever happen to find yourself up the Sac Delta area in early August, I strongly recommend giving it a look. It's the closest thing to the old Billy B Needles shows as I have experienced since way back when.

Bummed I missed it this year. My daughter had soccer and I was working on my boat. We will be there next year for the festivities with a boat for the show as well.

during the 2020 election we accidently found a huge Trump parade/gathering on the main sj channel. I also noticed that the sj sheriffs department

had about 20+ boats....... big ones too. kinda weird having like 30 foot+ boats for just the delta............

They did sell shirts, although at 1:00 on Saturday when I rolled through they had already run out of some more popular size and color combos.

Hands down the best v drive event I’ve ever been to. Did you see Dog’s blown fuel flat run??

I must have missed it, we were on a tight timeline to get back to a party in San Ramon so while I could have spent all day there...

We did see a shuttle tanker roll past though. It was crazy watching it suck the water out of the marina as it went by. Evidently if your a delta regular this is no big deal, you just need to run down to your pimped flat bottom and keep it off the dock until the beast passes through.

It is absolutely STUNNING!

I believe that is owned by the Noack family.

For those that don't know, Cherilyn Noack is Bob Teague's daughter. Josh Noack, is her husband, is Bob's son in law, and runs the shop at TCM.

To say performance boating of all types is in their genes is understatement.

The "Spare Time" Raysoncraft really is drop dead gorgeous and deservedly won the Best of Show award.

I wasn’t going to go into that detail, but yes that is all correct, and Josh and Cherilyn are great people, as are their parents! Always look forward to seeing them at the DLB events!

I saw it. It was bad ass. Kiker thought about putting Nighthawk in, but it was too dark after Kevin went out. High Power Marine (Don) posted a video on the FB page.
