They are pretty much the standard for all intersections in NZ. I'll tell you what, when you get off that overnight flight and pick your rental car up at 7am, steering wheel on the wrong side, driving on the wrong side of the road, the first time you come to a roundabout your brain short circuits for a second 🤣 🤣 🤣

I don't mind them.

There is one I used a lot in Michigan. Shaped like an elongated figure 8, going over a freeway receiving and feeding 2 entrance, 2exit ramps for expressway and 2 regular streets. Yowzer that could get intresting. 😣

Had to deal with this in Barbados.

Ho Le Chit I was SO glad I didn't have to drive. The locals were flying right through them! 😱

I was doing my best just to not freak out. Wild times.

Blows my mind how freaked out a large majority of people are that approach them. Most treat it like a stop sign which obviously 100% ruins their purpose of keeping traffic flowing.
The 4 or 5 lane wide ones in Europe can get pretty hectic for sure.😯😁

I don't mind them here in the US at all, but when you are on vacation someplace where they drive on the wrong side of the road you can really get screwed up!

Bourne rotary is a blast, better be aggressive, considered by some the first in the country.

"The traffic around the rotary is horrible. It stops everything up in all directions. There's accidents, it ties people up," says one frustrated driver.

The Bourne Rotary just wasn't built to handle the modern-day volume of traffic. Another driver says: "You're definitely taking your life in your hands on some occasions, but you've got to do what they do in Europe and just anticipate."

The Bourne Bridge and rotary opened in the 1930s. It was a big advancement then, but now, not so much.

"I've sat in traffic for an hour and a half, easily," says one driver. Another comments, "Sometimes I go around the rotary two or three times before I feel comfortable to merge in or out.

They are the go-to intersection upgrade here in N Idaho. I don't mind them at all, but there are others around here that really hate them. I think they work well if everyone understands how to drive thru them. And that there is the problem, people dont understand them.

Not much different than an on ramp to a freeway. Keep up the pace and merge accordingly.

I like them. Wish Mulberry/95 in Havasu would do one. 6 phase intersection where u are waiting a while if u just miss your phase. There is plenty of room to do it. Would rather slow to 10 mph then wait 2-3 mins at a red light

As long as the inside curb is rounded I love them. I need to be able to ut across them like road racers do, kind of bounce over them and a yield sign is the same as a merge sign.

I don't mind them..... when they are correctly sized. Far too often the retrofit ones I come across are FAR too small so there is almost not even enough length for a car to get into the circle when another is coming from the road to the left. Let alone a trailer or a big RV or something.

Grew up driving the LB PCH - Lakewood Blvd -, Los Coyotes Diagonal Traffic Circle without a problem. Driving the Columbus Circle in NYC was different. The entire area is paved. “Wolf Packs of taxis etc, would cut straight across without any regard to others . When correctly circling you had to watch for these “incoming packs” on each side. Crazy Stuff!

The Traffic Circle in LHC near the old K-Mart goes mostly unnoticed. There were somewhat recent fatalities there, but it they were not really related to the flow of traffic. Recall excessive speed and alcohol may have been the cause, in a SxS?

I like em too. I just wish they’d paint them like the FIA curbs.

They are all over my neighborhood. I like them. It keeps me from having to stop or wait for a light.

Some are perfectly setup for drifting. I enjoy the hell out of that.

There is a bunch in the Prescott/Chino Valley area. I guess it's nice to keep the traffic moving. I suspect it's okay if the traffic level is fairly low but wouldn't be practical when the traffic level is very high. I must say, my BP goes up when entering a TC, never completely sure I'm doing the right thing or if everyone else is. But sitting at lights for no reason sucks also but less stress unless you are in a hurry.

I agree with welldigger00 they suck and are not designed for the real world
There is no way to tell traffic around you what it is going to take to get a wide load through to the third right

3rd world country bullshit. Just another way how USA has gone to hell.
They should remind you of civilized countries in Europe.

Except when towing, they are much better than four-way stops: you save time since you don't need to slow down to a full stop, collisions are fewer and less severe, and fuel consumption is reduced. But towing on a road with four-way stops every 0.5-1km is pretty tiring.

The main things that make the US look like a third world country are
1. 4-way stops
2. Overhead power lines
3. All the garbage by the roadside
4. Road signs on wooden poles

Roundabouts at least fix the first point.

It’s a game of inches.

We encounter several of them in the greater Sedona / Clarkdale area and they are too small ya gotta be on your game towing.

Morongo has a 2 high speed but good size versions.

Parumph is switching over to them and are too small.

Most people entering have no clue what a YIELD sign means. If you get hit that will be why.

In car - no issues!

Towing ToyHauler - I am OK with it, but the idiots around me cause problems. I usually stop for fuel @ Morongo, but avoid it on holiday weekends. Too many folks are not looking what others are doing and when I have 40’ behind me, those folks usually cause issues,

I dont mind them. The ones I dont like are when there are a couple lanes that only go in dedicated direction. I am normally the guy that does not see which lane I need to be in and has to either cut across or take the next one and be in the wrong place.

On a side note, there is one that is on the way to or house. I love to have friends or family following me that does not know, and keep driving them in circles.

I first encountered them in England. The accepted practice seemed to be , downshift and don't make eye contact.

The traffic circle in Long Beach has to be one of the earliest in the USA.
Easily 80 years.
Really is the way to do it. Huge.

Roundabouts are a mix of Russian roulette and the game of chicken. If everyone plays by the rules we all go home safe.

.., Used it all the time when I lived aboard… I just never really saw the necessity of it because there was never a whole lot of traffic… Could be way different now???…
