Looking to replace our dishwasher and thought i would see if anyone has a particular brand that they would recommend.
We currently have a Fridgedaire that I have never liked and yesterday it quit working. I have always had great luck with Kitchenaid but the wife wants to get something else. She doesn’t know what she wants but since I said Kitchenaid it can’t be that ( typical).

Whirlpool. I put one in a couple of years ago, super quiet, will actually clean the dishes also though it takes forever to do so. I run it at night mostly due to the long wash cycle mandated by the efficiency requirements. But it works so I'm happy.

You want something cool? Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher. We’ve had one for 5 years now and would never go back to a standard dishwasher. Game changer and it does a great job.

We actually have a Maytag, but it's the Whirlpool and it was available in white. Like you stated super quiet and also reliable and made in the USA, one of the best buys around $500. I believe Whirlpool also makes the Kitchen Aid.

I love the Bosch. It came with the house, so I don't know the model off the top of my head, but looking at Google images, I think it's the 800 series. It is so quiet, the only way I can tell it is on is with the light that shines on the floor. The last one I purchased was a Frigidaire, which was very quiet for about 6 months. Then it became just as noisy as the old model it replaced. The shelves on the Bosch are easy to take in and out and you can adjust how much of the Rinse Aid is used. Longevity? I can't say as we have only had the house for about 18 months and we are not in it year-round.

another vote for Bosch ours is roughly 10 years old everything else is Frigidaire but they said Bosch was the most quiet and better build at the time we bought. However I agree with BP Racing that model seems like it would be better but may require more Maintenace. LOL

Recently picked up a Bosch 800. There are two versions out there, one with drying crystals (the other without). I use the 1-hour clean/dry cycle and comes out perfect. That model, also has built in water softener (like whats In your garage). 15 years on our last one, about 6 months on the new. The connectivity is over the top, but I di like the reminder when finished (so quiet you don’t hear it running), when to replace rinse aid, etc. bet that’s the first thing to take a sh!t rendering it useless 🤔

We wanted the 800, but it was on back order with an expected delivery in January. No way was I going through the holidays without dishwasher. Settled on the 500, since it was delivered within 2 days and I had it installed the night I got home from an east coast work trip.

I've had a GE for several years. Washes well and very quiet with the stainless steel tub. But not problem free. Had the control board go out and several draining issues so I would not go back to them.

These days I hand wash most shit anyway but my wife still uses it if I don't get to them. She does most of the cooking so I'll clean up.

So here's what I want to know. How many inmates just scrape and put the dishes into the dishwasher? What happens to all the remaining food waste? 🤮

I'm in the camp that I rinse everything off (to the point there's no more food on anything) and then put it in the dishwasher. Yes it seems to be redundant and it wastes water, but I don't think dishwashers are garbage disposals.

How about everyone else?

We bought Kenmore Elite about 14 years ago. It was so quite like Angie said you don’t even know that it is running. When we bought the appliances for the Havasu house we found the brand that we liked about bought the top of the line dishwasher as we liked the quietness. It was only about $300 over the bottom of the line. So there was not that much of a span unlike refrigerators. We went with the LG brand because I wanted the craft cube ice maker. 😁

Right there with you. Plus we do not run the dishwasher but about once a week. I would not want to have the left over food getting crusty no matter what the manufacturers say. 👍

Bosch is the best, as you can see.

We had higher end Kitchenaid that was really good for a lower price. Everything else has been garbage.

When I put dishes in the dishwasher I might as well put them in the cupboard. I clean them really good. I can’t imagine putting any plate in there with any food on it. That’s just wrong. Those commercials showing that is strange. Hard water is the biggest issue where I live. Tough to get glassware clear

We did also. Love how quiet it is and haven't had an issue getting dishes cleaned but I just hate how everything in the world now connects to the internet. Why do you have to have a Bosch app for your damn dishwasher?
So when the wife forgets to turn it on when in bed. You don’t have to get up and do it.

Wish there was an app for getting water when she asks me to go downstairs and get her some after we just walked upstairs to go to bed. 🤦‍♂️.

I've been fixing the rusty racks in our 10+ year old KitchenAid for a couple of years now. It's to the point where we can't put dishes in some spots in the lower rack as I keep cutting out sections and putting the goo on them to seal them. I told my wife a new one would be our Xmas gift to each other this year. Except for the racks rusting and breaking off some of the rack wheels, this KitchenAid has been perfect. We have a KitchenAid in our Havasu place that I like even better as you can't hear it running at all. Will buy another.

Is there a dishwasher that doesn't come with steel coated rubber racks that eventually starts rusting? Any stainless options?

Differences between a Bosch & Meili-

Bosch. Assembled in the US with parts from all over. Including China & Mexico.

Miele. Made & assembled in Germany. With almost all parts made by Miele. They have their own foundry and make their own stainless steel. The only parts in a Miele not made by them are the rollers on the baskets and a couple plastic trim parts.

Bosch. You are the final QC from the assembly plant when you take it out of the box and turn it on for the first time.

Milele. When you take it out of the box, you will find that it is damp inside. That's because every single one was run at the factory, through all cycles. It was then inspected before the sound insulation went on and the final outside went on. Drained, packaged and then shipped.

Bosch will last 10 years. When it decides to spring a leak and flood your kitchen. . . you got 10 years and get to replace the floor in your kitchen.

Miele will last 20+ years. It has a double liner with both water & flow sensors. It will shut down if it detects water between the liners or the flow is incorrect.

Had a Bosch. Lasted 8 years. Nice but, would not go back.

Stepped up and got a Miele. Have had it for 8 months now. Have not had to add detergent yet. Comes with the Miele Auto-dos system. Their own detergent cartridge. It senses what's in the water. Ours also has the water softener system. You add salt maybe once a year. You program it initially to your water hardness and it adjusts the hardness by sensing the water.

Yes, you can put a dirty frying pan or plate with egg yolks on it in a Miele without washing it first. It also has settings for washing fine crystal or range hood filters. It will use more detergent and you will have to service the filters if you put dirty stuff in it.

Got a coupon from Miele for a free case of detergent cartridges. Should last years.

Bosch 800.

Stay away from GE Monogram. They are junk. Our last one lasted one year before breaking. Cheap internal parts and electronics.
We went LG. Zero issues so far.
After our cluster fuck with a Samsung.
Everyone has their own stories.
Have a couple friends that over spent on the Bosch and they sucked (or theirs did).
Broke. Customer service was useless.

Side: We have mostly LG in our kitchen and Laundry and are very happy with the performance and customer service when it’s needed.

Example. Ice maker was acting up. Instead of a few hundred dollar service call they talked my wife through multiple steps. And we got back on track.
This is just my experiences. I’m sure others hate LG.

We had one in our Plano house for 20 years. They're great because occasional use dishes can be washed and reused easily. You don't have to wait for a full load.

They're also very quiet.

Not whirlpool.

Paint peeling off the front above the vent.

I had to replace the rubber hinge dampers last week.

It doesn't clean great and coffee cup bases are wet when it's done drying.

You sure that's just not the energy efficiency BS on the dry cycle? I figure they've minimized that as much as possible to give themselves a better score.

I have an old Frigidaire from 2003 (made by Electrolux) and it doesn't dry for crap either. I've heard using a rinse aid is supposed to help with that.

We are just getting ready to replace it with a new whirlpool. I'm gonna laugh if it doesn't dry well either.

Look at the noise rating. Buy the quietest one available. I’ve bought a GE 12 years ago with no issues.

The quietest one I've ever seen is 42db and it was a Miele, and I believe Bocsh also makes one. Most are high 40’s or even low 50’s. Just remember its a logarithmic scale so a 10db difference is very noticeable.

Fellas this is one of the cases where its best to let the wife choose what she likes. I just got done installing our new one last week. ALL of them will not last forever and they are ALL pieces of shit. From Piece of shit tier to better piece of shit tier is like 4 to 500 bucks. Let the wifes have there moment. So that way when it goes out you dont have to hear "See I told you we shouldnt have bought that one"

Best reasonable prices is Kitchenaid, you get 10+ years out of them. After that Bosch or ge monogram are good.
I've had my bosh for 20 years. just spent about $150 and an hour on it replacing seals and buttons. still runs like new. dishes come out sterilized and spot free

Also, unless you are standing right next to it, you can't even tell it's running.

As noted above, he can stick her ear up to the KitchenAid and probably never hear it, if you’re looking for best value, that’s probably it

This is actually the route I decided to take. As soon as the dishwasher quit functioning I had a clear and defined path which was immediately met with opposition so from that point it became a no win situation. Just let her decide what she wants to do and I no longer have any cope ability.
