'Discord' app . . . anyone here use it?

There's a fishing tournament series using Discord as their platform for event logistics etc. .
To participate you've gotta download the app. and join their Discord group.

Anyone here use it ? . . . Thoughts on it's safety ? . . . . tell me any goods & bads.
From the little bit of research i've done, it doesn't appear to be owned by Zuckerberg or China . . . but may very well be.

I'm off social media so I have no real clue what it's about. Seems like it's used largely by 'gamers'.

Yep, 18 year old uses it, laughs at me using FB, total gamer geek.

I use it for gaming to chat with friends while playing. Easier to use than the in-game voice chat. It also has a group chat area where you can post things every one joined to that channel can see. That's probably the function they will be using to post info and updates to everyone. That is my guess.

Discord is used by gamers as well. Never heard about it being used for event logistics.

From my limited understanding it pretty much the replacement for "text forums" being more secure, a lot of articles online on what it is and how to use it effectively.

My 15 year old grandson has been using it for years. As said, gamers are into it. Hopefully it didn’t have anything to do with his Oculus being hacked a couple of days ago.

Been using it for years for various activities from gaming to motor head interests to music.

It use it for stock stuff there’s a pretty good supercross channel for streaming links

same as above, kids use it extensively for gaming and school. No worries to d/l and use.

We used it when the kid was living at MTF - Was a god way for them to communicate to the entire group - No issues with it.
