'38 Republicans Defied President Trump by Voting "NO" on his Budget Backed Bill. They must have wanted the "Raise" that was Slipped in more than future elections support and a "Positive" relationship by starting out voting against him🤔.

Fortunately a few fiscally conservative Republicans remain who refuse to keep raising the debt limit or get rid of it entirely as the incoming administration demands.

Good for them sticking to conservative principles. 👍

The same ones that were probably voting for the last one...with bonus funding for vaccine passports, EPA controls and a bunch of other things that are absolutely necessary to keep the government running.

Smoke, mirrors and bullshit...as always.

This is the quote from one of the no votes.

Hard for a conservative to argue with his logic for a no vote on the Trump/Musk bill.

“New bill: $110BB in deficit spending (unpaid for), $4 TRILLION+ debt ceiling increase with $0 in structural reforms for cuts. Time to read the bill: 1.5 hours. I will vote no,” Chip Roy

I agree with Roy usually. The thing is, the bill they will approve will be worse. They'll make a deal to get the yes votes that will end up costing more, and still have no reforms, or menial, easily negateable ones.

There is no reason to raise the debt ceiling without structural reforms. The debt ceiling was not raised in the first bill. Raising it was a demand by MAGA.

Attempting to extend it now or even eliminate it as is being demanded by MAGA is a giant giveaway to big government spenders.

Alex, in Budget Comittee Chairman Jodey Arrington's office said this am, "They are all in a meeting this morning, trying to work it out."
I urged a no vote on any, "Garbage."
Senator Mark Warner's office is not taking calls today. :DThey did answer yesterday. 🤣 The young lady who answered, you could tell it had been a long day. Alex chuckled when I mentioned how exhausted she sounded. "I'll bet." I always tell them it's the people who are important, and without them nothing gets done. She perked up a little, hearing that. It's true. It's always interesting calling DC. The Congressional switchboard operators like some nice convo too. Lady this morning says they don't get snow in DC like they used too. Global Warming!! 🤣

Let me explain the debt ceiling to you since it's pretty clear most of you have no idea what is going on.

As of now, there is no debt ceiling.

Let me repeat that for all of those "true conservative" supporters. As of right now, there is no debt ceiling.

The debt ceiling was suspended back in Jun of 2023.

As things stand now, as of Jan 1st, 2025, the debt ceiling will return, and it will be whatever it was when it was suspended plus whatever spending Biden and the dems did since June of 2023. That new debt ceiling is estimated to be hit by June of 2025 if not earlier.

What the CR wanted to do is push the redemption of the debt ceiling back for 2 years.

This would allow massive tax cuts that Trump wants to make. Things like no tax on tips, no tax on social security, no tax on overtime, a 15% tax bracket for companies who built here, and to stop the Trump tax cuts from expiring.

You see, the government idiots consider tax cuts as government spending. So if you do $4 trillion in tax cuts, the government considers that $ 4 trillion in spending.

The debt ceiling redemption on Jan 1st will make Trump have to figure out how to pass the tax cuts without going over the debt ceiling and triggering a default. Do you get it now?

By not moving the non-existent debt ceiling back two more years, the "true conservatives" just stopped you from getting more of your money returned to you by tax cuts and they kept more money in the government for a bigger gov. In effect, they just voted for the exact opposite of what they tell you they want and don't for a second think they don't know that.

Hmmm, makes perfect sense to me. The big takeaway is that most people opining think that there is currently a debt ceiling and the bill Trump wants is going to raise it. That is not the case.

Its also a fact.
Biden blew through the debt ceiling twice before suspending it. Then spent 6 trillion beyond the limit.
The suspension ends in less than 2 weeks and they’re trying to keep Trump from getting it raised.

There is currently a debt ceiling and it is equal to whatever the debt equals on January 1, 2025. This was done at the insistence of a Republican majority in the House.

The demand to lift it again is for one purpose, to increase deficit spending and fuel further deficits.

DOGE has promised to cut 2 trillion in spending annually. Let’s have a little discipline for a change rather than continuing the bipartisan tradition of reckless government spending.
