Welcome To the New RDP Newsletter!

Welcome everyone to the 2018 RDP Newsletter! RiverDavesPlace.com has undergone many changes recently including an entire platform change that has made the site more mobile friendly. While I'd love to call it 2.0, in reality after ten years this is more like version 6 or 7. We are already underway on a new upgrade (don't worry guys this time it's just a version update) again, and redesigning our front page to be more mobile friendly, and bring back a lot of the emoji's that we all miss. We are also custom coding several add on's that I think you guys are going to love, and will set us apart from any other forum on the web!

As for the board, things could not be going better for us in 2018! Historically during our peak times (The week of Desert Storm / Following Holiday Weekends etc..) our numbers have peaked at about 75,000 unique IP's (different people looking at the site). With the new software, the ability to upload massive amounts of content easily, and better SEO implementation, I'm happy to say even pre-season we have smashed our past records. We haven't even begun our summer campaigns yet, and are already at 90,000 Unique IP's per month! Of course those numbers just reflect the site, and not our social media arms which include Instagram / FB Biz Page / FB group page.

My personal favorite thread going right now is this one :

https://www.riverdavesplace.com/forums/threads/lets-see-your-butt.183471/

It really does show some of the unbelievable hardware that the members own. I'd be stoked to feature just about every boat in the thread so far! If you haven't yet, throw yours in there.

My intention for this newsletter is to share some unique content to the people that have taken the time to register an account on RiverDavesPlace. After all you guys are the true members of the website! In this edition we have started a new series "Members Interviews". I have been asked to do it before, but this time Pronstar (Robert) finally pushed me over the hump to put some real time and energy into them. In his words there's enough interesting people on RDPthroughout the membership that it could make for some great story lines and I agree. Because Summer hasn't officially started yet, I figured we'd start with the "Hub" of RDP which would be all of the people that work for it part time / full time etc. The first up is "Fishing Fool" and I think you'll enjoy his story as much as I did when we filmed it. We have also included one of the most unique RE Listings you will ever see in Lake Havasu! For the marine portion of it we had Andy type up some sage advice as to why you should be 100% honest with the Horsepower / Value / Speeds when it comes to marine insurance.

I hope you guys enjoy the first newsletter, and as things grow and we bring more talent on board things are only going to get bigger and better from here! See you on the forums!

Value and Horsepower

By Andy Holthe, EP Insurance

In an ongoing segment I will discuss some of the things you never want to misrepresent with your marine insurance policies.

Two very important facts that clients often consider misstating or representing are value and horsepower. Value is a very important part of your policy, and also a large part of your premium base. Stating what you paid, or if you’re shopping at your renewal, being very close to your prior policy limits is what the carriers are looking for.
qG0dWrDfN7cnGoTB7pJvyHt0Oo1aD6jzoUSJZb2L6dkKLr6jOsokGOmqYyojE0cF8g_I8wFZXgt_CJXpRE6x4eq-qHhnQZUSMPcKDKHuASAHYbJZmN1UzIOU4CU-m_tyapoS7gcJp0HXPWE=s0-d-e1-ft

These amounts will come into play for a partial loss or total loss. I advise to always opt for an agreed value policy whenever it is available. If you understate your value you could find yourself getting under paid on a partial loss, and under paid in the event of a total loss. If you over state what you paid for the vessel you are now misrepresenting what you paid for the boat and paying insurance premium on money you didn’t spend. Or worse, the carrier finds out you misrepresented the boat and cancels you during a claim process.

When it comes to horsepower this is likely one of the most important facts to your entire policy. The insurance carrier is building a policy based on their exposure. Speed is a huge factor for all carriers. In the event of a claim one of the very first things the inspector or adjuster will do is open the engine hatch. They are looking for modifications or misrepresented horsepower figures. Doesn’t matter the nature of the claim, they’re looking for a reason to give you a refund on your policy. Some agents write 500 hp at 470, or 525’s at 500 to stay at the 500 hp mark for certain carriers. When you open the hatch the 500 doesn’t say 470, it says “500”. If it happens to be an aftermarket engine package they can and will call the engine builder and ask for details to the build. In a large claim they may call that builder to write a statement of facts about the horsepower or testify in court. Every builder, big or small, has a build sheet of every engine that leaves their shop, plus the work order for installing the engine. A statement such as… “Oh, I added a blower and forgot to notify my agent” will likely result in denial of any claims made. If you change your boat you should notify your agent, even if that means canceling and rewriting the policy at a higher premium.

Truth and facts are what save you in a claim. We all work hard to buy boats and get to the lake. We all pay for insurance for a reason. It’s there to protect us when we need it most. Don’t give a carrier a way out of paying a claim by falsifying or misrepresenting a fact on your policy. Remember, your signature is on the application!! Not your agent/broker or buddy that coached you on how to save money on boat insurance. Its your signature. That signature is agreeing to everything stated in the policy and on the application.

Team RDP Real Estate

This is one of the most unique places in Lake Havasu. 3000+ Sq Ft / 3 Bedrooms / 5 Bathrooms! The amenities and details throughout are absolutely incredible. All of the wood work was sourced out of Big Bear California, and everything from the Bases to the Door Cases is custom made one off for this home. That includes the custom closets, and even a double bunk bed for the kids, with a slide out third bed! The granite work is like nothing I have ever seen before that you would have to see in person to appreciate. The best thing about the house itself is that it is a true dual purpose home that is perfect for the family, but has a completely separate area for entertaining guests! Did I mention it comes with a 40' RV garage on site with a lift so you can stack two boats in it? Located right on the water in the Lake Havasu Bridgewater Channel, with private access to the boardwalk and the sand. It simply doesn't get any better.

RDP Member Interview: "Fishing Fool"

I was recently talking to a long time member of RDP and his take was the most interesting thing about the website itself is the members stories. I can't help but agree, and thought it would be a pretty cool deal to tell some of their stories! We decided to start with the "Hub" of RDP being the people that actually work for the website in one capacity or another and tell their stories first, from there we will begin branching out and interviewing the rest of the membership! I think this could quickly become my favorite segment that we will be doing! First up is Fishing Fool and this is his story.

For those that did get it.. well if you think a buddy would like it? It’s as easy as hittting the forward button..

i don't see it in my inbox or spam. My e-mail is correct in my profile.

Update: I assumed it was sent out today, (my mistake) . After someone mentioned they received it 6 days ago on the 17TH , I rechecked through tons of emails and did find it in my Gmail promotions folder.
