I am a fan of the old school tuck and roll interiors. Almost everything at the boat show had Diamond Stitching in the seats. I know that it is mostly taste but is there a durability advantage to the diamond stitching? Poll for what you would pick if you were designing your interior right now.

Diamonds are playyyed. In 5 years diamonds will be the next checkers and tribal flames.

It's been the hot new thing for the last 3-4 years, and it's on fire right now.. I agree 100% though that 10 years from now we are gonna look back and it's going to date the boat.

I don't think Tuck and roll will ever come back into style, but I shit you not I woulda said the same thing about diamonds 10 years ago.. LOL

Every trend is on fire right before it burns out.

It will be less than 10 years that it looks dated though. As soon as the new trend takes off.

All the stitching is where upholstery shows the wear first. Especially on areas you sit on. The stitching itself gets dirty and changes from white to off white. All those pleats are dirt collectors too. Just my opinion but I like simple, but not Cheetah boats simple.

My 1976 Spectra came with diamond pattern. Had the boat for 26yrs and not one stitch ever broke. I believe my friend who bought it from me still have the original interior. The 1978 19 footer interior was tuck&roll and needed to be replaced.;)

That's exactly what I was gonna say. You don't want to be that guy who has the 2019 version of Crockett and Tubbs pink and teal.

My ’67 Howard (which I sold) still has the tuck and roll upholstery that was installed in December 1967, done by "Interiors by Jack". It looks almost new after 50 years. He had a shop in the same little commercial park in Bellflower where Howard Boats was located.

Agree with most everything said. Everywhere you perforate the vinyl is a place for it to dry out and start cracking. It's all on how it's maintained and cared for.
It's all done on a CNC quilting machine. And purchased on Rolls by the hundreds of yards. I'm surprise the boating industry hasn't caught up. You can get any pattern you want. Volleyball, hex, intricate weaves Etc.
In the industry it's played out. People are getting props for doing Interiors without diamonds.

Remember the more stitching you have , the more q-tips it takes to keep the stitches clean ....ask me how I know.

Yes I have a problem, at least I admit it [emoji39][emoji202]

What some people call "tuck and roll" is really just pleated. Real tuck and roll actually folds around some supporting foam and as elegant as it can look it is not practical for boats because sand will get trapped in the folds.
Diamonds, I hate diamonds. Could there possibly be a more mundane and repetitive pattern? Why not something a little more free form that flows but keeps things simple and understated.
