Hi All,
I am Denver Mullins Daughter (Denvers Choppers, Berdoo, Capsules by Denver, Public Enemy 919 Top Fuel Hydro) My name is Lisa Meli and I am trying to gather any and all pics, videos and memories anyone here has of my dad as my daughter and I are writing a book about my dad and his life and death (including after his death and what happened to his legacy)

Also, since my dad died in a drag boat crash, I have not been back to the river (Parker) where we would go almost every other weekend from the time I can remember (4 or5) until my dads untimely death in 1992. I am ready to see the beautiful water, , smell the smells and hear the boats and wave runners and just, overall, take myself back to the main memories that are, by far, the fondest . I just don't know where to stay, where to rent a boat or wave runners and what is the normal now. Back when I would single ski behind a flatbottom, nitrous oxide pickle fork and my dad made me think he owned the world, there were no rules and we had a nice doublewide on a cliff in Redrock....now. I'm lost...so anyone with anything to contribute to this thread.....you would be my hero!!

You can still stay at Red Rock, its now called The Sandbar Resort. Jason, @aka RiverPirate one of the owners still posts here. They have trailers that you can rent from them.

As far as other rentals Im not much help.

Keep us posted on the book, I for one would be really interested in hearing the history.

The guy on the bike in the lower picture was Denver's partner and my Boss for 20 years and GM at West Valley Water District, I didn't really know Denver except dropping by the shop once in a while. .

I owned one of your dad's boat molds (it was a splash of the Kurtis 500 hydro) years ago and heard some great stories, but nothing I would publish on here. I don't even know if Denver would want you to know about them! I would reach out to Gary Kincaid. He ran in the same circles and may be able to help with some good content.

Gary Kincaid sounds familiar but I don't know why, I was into drag racing and only caught dragboat racing occasionally on TV.

Not sure what you mean but I am hoping it isn't something meant to hurt.....

Hurt? Just the opposite in fact, it was meant to help!

Wheeler is one one of the RDP resident photographers. He's damm good, and has tons of great old pics!

Protip: when you take someone's screen name, and put the @ sign in front of it, it sends them a notification to come look at a post.

Most everyone around here is Always willing to help. But just like any public place, there are always those that try and start drama. There is one in every crowd as they say!

Good luck on your journey. 👍

As a kid my dad would take me out to your dads shop to hang out, that place was a the candy shop with lots of action. I watched your dad and Bobby Kossy tape out flames on a set of tanks for a bike my dad was building, each one grabbed a tank and started taping, the right and left tank are almost identical, but they are not. I still have that bike with those tanks. My dad is still around and might be someone you want to speak with, he was running around with those guys all through the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.

You might also want to reach out to Bob Leach of Eliminator boats, I remember hearing stories about your dad swapping a bike or bikes for a boat at the bar in parker with him 🤷‍♂️

It's really cool that several inmates can help Lisa with photos and memories of her dad. Thanks to all that contribute, you're awesome.

Was Bob and Doug West.
If I recall there was a magazine cover with both of them on the bikes at some point after.

Your dad was a friend of mine. I was 16 when I met him the first time in puddingstone. It was 1990 and I just walked into the pits and started asking him questions, he asked if I was hungry and we went and got food. I was a member of another crew that ran CE and he came to our pits. From there on out I hung out with him at every race. He was an inspiration to me at a young age and it’s odd but I was just telling my wife about him and decided to google him. I don’t have any pictures anymore but would love to share some stories

Hi I knew your dad and his circle of friends I was young at the time 14 they used to take me to the river with them. I used to back the boats in and pull them out wipe them down keep them clean. They would always tell me it wasn't good enough. I used to get mad and tell them what the fuck did you bring me for then! They said because you are our little ..... buckwheat I would get pissed when they called me that. So I found out later on that if you ignored them it would go away if they saw they passed you off and rattled your cage so that they did and the nickname stuck. I have one of your dad's flags and another of memories I could share if you're interested aaron 760 953-9570

I was at the lake that fateful day. That was rough to watch for this young kid at the time.
