Had to get the 40k service done on my 2017 F350.

While waiting, started looking for a new round town toy. Quickly walked away. Holly F.

What's the base $ 83K truck on that KG with the Whipple setup ? Mostly curious with the $ 25K initial MU. That Shelby is nothing but a F150 with a bunch of bolt-ons. They had one of those in '18 when I bought my Raptor, damn thing had set on the dealer floor forever for MSRP and they couldn't move it.

I haven't let the stealership touch my Super Duty since I bought it. Find a good diesel mechanic for your service.

Also, make sure you are replacing fuel filters every 10k miles.

Those "Kustom" Raptors are just stupid. I have been looking at new Raptors as I want to sell my Super Duty, but damn they are SPENDY!!!

When I got my F350, I was able to negotiate the service plan 8yrs / 100k for $500.
I do my fuel filters every 15k. Once that expires I will move shops.
Got truck in May 2018 with 15 miles on it and I only have 38k on it (27k) towing.

saying, I held off 2 years ago from buying a new truck camper, prices have only increased another 10-12k

now i only WISH i bit the bullet back then. I would have also had a good loan rate. (ya ya, i know, everyone pays cash on here)
I’m going to be honest. Cars are paid for motorhome is paid for I owe about 40 on my boat. But could pay it off if needed. If possible I finance the fuck out of everything and use the banks money first 😂

16k on the new Prius. My kid has been waiting to buy a new car for a year. I feel bad for her she has saved up 25k and we are going to loan her the difference. But fuck these markups.

$95k MSRP sticker for a stock Ford Raptor at Gaudin this morning. Not marked up.
Lot over flowing with trucks.
I was expecting mid $70’s.

Chevy dealer next door over flowing with trucks too.

No chip shortage anymore either.

The dealer markup may now be priced in the MSRP.
I look at it now as a bigger negotiation point for a further discount.

2024 3500 HD GMC Dually allotments will be released soon.

I expect them to be MSRP’d at $2k more than we paid for the 2021 dually as the single rear wheel 3500HDs were.

We’ll see.

Remember the old saying if we could all throw our problems in a pile then pick out our new problems, we’d pick out the problems we threw in the pile.

Getting that way with trucks. What problems do you want to or are willing to deal with?
They all have their high prices and mulligans.

Took Ford 3 years to cure the Diesel particulate filter problem.
We’re hearing 3 years into the same issue the new GMC/Chevy particulate filter problems are going to be solved.

We’ll see about that too. It’s going to be expensive to find out.

Jeezus. That's more than three times what I paid for my Excursion 6.0L Limited in 2004. I know that was ages ago, but it's still shocking.

Ken grody customs....🤣
Yeah, wasn't a fan of KG once all the good people they aquired from Dixon left. That "I'll see you here" slogan is about as douchie as it gets.😂
All the custom stuff the dealers watched the customers spend at other shops became their new market target.

So your saying they still have the issues and the 24’s will most likely have issues?

I only use the guys in fleet sales. The main sales folks are super pushy.

The fleet guy I knew in the Dixon days was as good a guy you could ever hope for.
Honestly, It's a good thing you purchased pre-pandemic.

Numerous videos of the Ford CFO just ranting about dealers doing this. He even said in one video selling at MSRP leaves the dealer a fair stake.

In another video he also said Ford needs to stop it with the recalls and TSB's as its costing them consumer confidence and profit.

Ford Dealerships fighting all that.

What do you expect at Ken Grody Ford - the originator of the extreme mark-up. I stopped by last year to see what they had in Raptors and every one had a markup of at least $25k and others had a wheel and tire package that they were adding another $25k to the price. $135k for a stock Raptor with different wheels and tires. GTFOH!

Nope we’re told on the 2024 GMC/Chevy ECU programing is fixed and the clogged particulate filter issue is solved.

It’ll cost us $80k to find out.

YouTube new Ford truck issues and they are brutal.
We’ll stick with GM issues for now.

When I purchased my truck, they forgot the remove a couple pieces of paper from inside. One of those was dealer deliver date, which was written down as 10.13.2017.
I purchase the truck on May 30, 2018 (last day of month and quarter). Flat out told the sales guy, this is the only F350 DRW without the 5th wheel prep kit in SD and Riverside county, so someone ordered the truck wrong. Plus it has been sitting on your lot since Oct 2017. If you want it sold, I will pay 2% below x-plan, then the extended warranty will be 1k and the extended service plan will be $500. I originally left the dealer, but got a call back around 4pm saying they would do it. Then I made them take a trade :). Fleet sales manager told me, they made the deal since I was the only one interested in the truck (no other dealer would take it as a trade) and they needed the sale to make their monthly and quarterly sales number :)

buying cars was so much more fun before Covid.

50 years we have owned our family dealership. I have worked there full time for almost 42 years. At one time I enjoyed selling cars. Now I don’t want to go to work in the mornings.

Curious as to exactly why:
Dealing with Ford or dealing with customers?

I have a wonderful customer base. The nonsense of the world and Ford drives me insane. Most of the people I speak to during the day still have a dog barking or a baby crying. I could go on for a long time. But that covers it pretty good.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some great people at Ford yet and do what they can to help. But most of them have well over 50 dealers to keep track of.

Listening to that video - those are one of the groups that Farley is targeting because they're bloating the company.

I refuse to contribute to this nonsense. I'd rather pay $30K for a used truck and sink $20K into it than pay these ridiculous prices. No way, no how. Especially knowing all the smog crap and electronics on the new ones are set to self-destruct within 5 years.

The prices aren’t ridiculous if you aren’t buying something ridiculous to begin with.

You can buy a brand new middle of the road truck for that $50k you want to spend. Not every truck is a Platinum spec with 32 speakers, seat massagers, and a built in wine cellar.

I have close friend from childhood who is a cad/gmc dealer. (100+ year family business) He echos that sentiment.

I was a guest on the trip to the dealer meeting in Vegas last year (read as I went to Vegas with them but not the meetings) and the overall morale of the industry was markedly different than previous years. I remember sitting at the roulette table with a dealer from New Jersey and it was eye-opening and jaw-dropping to hear the bullshit that they had been going through.

I require heated leather seats, 3/4 ton, 4x4, rear back-up camera/alarm, and remote start. I like the option to take others with us, so a crew cab is also needed. :) Don't need massagers, and most vehicles come with damned good stock stereos these days. I don't need the lane change warning. I do need drive train upgrades like lower gears, locking diffs, high-output alternator, diesel engine. I don't need any platinum super-deluxe limited model. Just a comfortable, warm truck with a lot of towing capacity. They are still too much, especially with the self-destruct features mentioned above. 😂 Looking like close to 90 grand.

The leather is what is killing you.

All that is like $60-$65k without leather.

Buy the cloth truck and spend $2k on recovering the seats with a leather kit and not have to chase old truck problems :)

I have all those features in my 2021. But I opted for gas. It's rated to tow 16k. Same truck diesel was 65k plus fees. Sticker was 54k with discount $47.5 plus fees.

I had 2 diesels when I bought it. Sold 1 and bought used gas. 1 cp4 diesel is all that's needed. Fuel pump failures are 11k. Minimize the risk by selling 1. I can replace the gas engine for half the price of a fuel pump in the diesel.

I see very little reason to get a diesel today. $10k more to spend $1 more per gallon wipes the efficiency equation out. Then roll the dice on a $10k out of warranty repair.

Slap two sleds and a deck on bed of a gasser in soupy slush and mud... I can assure you you'll choose the diesel. Pulling my 24+4 with a full load or a car in it, or my boat.. I don't need to take it off of cruise control...and its not going to loose really any speed on a steep grade. Ill take 400hp, and 1000 tq every time.

The diesel vs gas depends on the use of the buyer and what their needs are....in my case I don't give two shits about the difference in maintenance cost or the fuel difference. I know for what I do, I have the power I need to get the job done. You don't need anything more than an F150, so I can see where you are coming from 👀😅😅 jk

Yea all the 7.3 guys with 4.30s are all getting stuck in the mud.

I’ll keep the $10k and push the pedal a little more, while you need diesel to keep the cruise control going 🤣.

As I said.. trucks are expensive because people make them expensive.

Yea...I could see how you want to keep the $10k in your pocket since you're a fan of the interest free loan program RG offered 😆🤣🤣 Just busting your balls.

For me it was more like 17k more. If I had a toyhauler still no doubt I would of got diesel. But of the 15 trailers I own the gassers pull them fine. But have the diesel if needed. But it weighs so much with tools it doesn't pull much better its over 12k loaded closer to 13k. I don't have a class A either so new diesel power doesn't do me any good for work stuff. My trailers are de rated to 9,995. With the diesel since it's a work body it's a target for weight police. But I still pay for a 26 sticker in case I do tow with it.

I guess you could count that as interest earned lol, don't tell Biden's 87k IRS agents though...they'll find a way to tax it and give it to Ukraine lol

Why do you think I’ve been laughing about this for the last couple years. That $8k “loan” has turned into $40k. 🤣 by the time I sell the first one, the 2nd will be nearly free.

If you are going to tow something once a month, save the money and floor the gas truck. If you are loaded heavy constantly, yes get the diesel.

As you said.. what’s the worst that happens? $7k for an entire new factory crate motor.

I wish new crate motors were that cheap, buddy of mine spun a rod bearing in a 5.3 and ended up 12k for new crate long block with labor
