Dead Fish Situation...

We are looking forward to some long awaited Lake Havasu family time and just in time for the dead fish situation. I heard that it's a virus attacking Carp, Goldfish & Koi. How safe do you think the water is for children? I haven't really heard anyone getting sick... have you?

I'll be honest I'm not sure I'd let my kids swim in it.. I'm still 50/50 on weather I'm going to get in it over the 4th and we're all the way down in parker!

We were up there last weekend and its not as bad as its made out to be. The wife looked up the virus and it has zero effect on people. The city and where I stay at Havsu Landing are cleaning them up as fast as they can...although when some dopey kid picks one up it will stink:grumble:

This is a virus that only Carpe and Koi can get. I have been in the water and have seen lots of kids playing in it. I havent heard of anyone getting sick. Humans cant get this virus. Hope this doesnt discourage you from moving forward with your vacation

Hmmm, this thread is now a couple of months old BUT with regard to the fish virus you guys have over there and the "fact" that people can't get it:

....Mad Cow Disease
....Bird Flu
....Swine Flu

Anyone else see a pattern here?? I don't wish to be an alarmist but before anyone writes this disease off without considering it properly, perhaps there should be further investigation into it - especially if it's going to happen year upon year and y'all are gonna swim in the bad fishy waters...
