I've wanted a DCB 28' Extreme (i'm a v bottom man) for quite some time and finding one is few and far between since DCB's last production of one was back in 2012 (per rumors & DCB). The ones that are out there for sale are usually 10+ years old and rarely on the market for sale.

I called DCB and they said they could no longer produce the DCB 28' Extreme as they have sold the mold to "Adrenenline Custom Boats" per a DCB salesman (maybe tony?). I did a little research and they are potentially out in Phelan, CA (12639 Johnson Road).

Just a few weeks ago they produced a few pictures of their very first 28' V bottom called an "Assassin" out of the mold and ready for rigging per the post on their Facebook and instagram a few weeks ago.

It's pretty obvious that yes... it is the 28' extreme mold so...

I got in contact with them and Dean (the owner?) called me and we had a good 30+ minute conversation about a build. He has a very minimal website and sporadic social presence to find out any information on his models, spec's and details.

What do people know about these boats, builder, etc...

Here's what I do know...
"Adrenaline Powerboats" is not him and they are out of Lincolnton, GA.
"Adrenaline Custom Boats" is him (dean) and potentially located in Phelan, CA (12639 Johnson Road) from what I can research.
Anyone know Dean?
What else can you tell me?

Great looking boat, one of my favorites. I don't know much about Dean, meet him once. Nice guy. They have bought the F26 molds and done a wrap around windshield like the M series. Boats look really nice. They just did a outboard boat for Josh from Teague I believe, boat looked amazing. I'll find pics................

The V pictured looks more like a Lavey but that’s the gel not hull that makes me say that.
If you want a NEW build 28 why not go to Eliminator? From my understanding that’s what DCB did when they first built it was go to Eliminator then splash it.

Here’s the one I was talking about above.. it’s been for sale a few times, don’t know if it still is.

Yes, I've seen it, talked to the guy many times since listed in June/July... problem is that he is using the pictures from when he bought it over 2-3 years ago from the other guy's pristine garage that he bought it from. I got him to send me some pictures (and they were shitty shots) and not only can you tell that he has had multiple spills and stains in the machine... it's dirty dirty dirty all over in the engine hatch, missing a cup holder or 2, missing covers and such for access points and you can tell that it's not his baby... It took about a month of communication before I was finally sent a picture of some side damage that he said was not a big deal and forgot about... After that i felt that he may be hiding something else. It may be a good one for someone but I don't feel it's the right deal for me.

Great riding hull, we love ours.. we actually owned it several years ago, sold it and bought it back earlier this year. I spoke with Dean for about 45 minutes shortly after they bought the hulls from DCB and discussed what I was looking for as far as options and motor. He was going to email me pricing info and never heard back from him. I moved on.

Luckily we got the opportunity to buy our old one back and have since completely redone the interior... I have seen a few for sale recently, including a beautiful red, silver, and orange one with green pin lines and a 600 in it. I’ll see if I can find the add again and pass it along to you. I also was in contact with the owner of an orange and black Extreme that we looked at a few years ago and he was open to sellling it. It also had a 600 in it.

Let me know about that orange and black one... I could be interested in it!

I believe this boat belongs to Josh Bob Teague's son in law!

Actually, they didn’t have to splash it.
They hired the Tooler that did the 28 Eagle;)

I had the pleasure of driving one part of the way from Long Beach out to Catalina. It was a soft ride, even over decent sized swells. Handled well and left me impressed.

I agree that gel on the unfinished boat pictured above is definitely Lavey inspired. Ain't nothing wrong with that!

I am curious on costs for a new one.

I still love the 28' extreme DCB. Cant seem to get anyone to agree on if the bottom is the same as a 28' Eliminator eagle though. Some swear yes, some swear no, some say it was based on it but is modified.

My friend had a 2006 28' extreme and it rode great and hauled ass. Awesome boat. I'd be interested in picking up a clean 28' eagle if I knew they rode the same

Are you sure that's not the 280 Cole mold? I know they have the 250 Cole mold.

The 28 Eagle, and the 28 Extreme are two completely different boats. Both were designed by two completely different designers. And this is the 28 Extreme, not Cole or Lavey Craft.

I'm 100% sure that this is the DCB 28 Extreme mold. Dean will not deny it... In fact he bought a couple of molds from DCB... If i remember right maybe an f26... But he is modifying them with windshields and such. Cobra did the rigging on the 1st one produced a year or so ago.

I received an Email this morning from Josh Noack of the Teague Team - - - "The pictures you saw were my wife and I in the 26 Adrenaline. Since then we have actually purchased and are rigging one now. Dean is a stand up guy and will build you the boat you want. He is somewhat hard to get a hold of and does not do a ton of advertising about the boats. This is not his primary business. They do build a very nice boat. The guys he has over there take a lot of pride in their work."

We were the previous owners of a 2003 DCB 28 Extreme with the 575 SCi motor...I think the boat is currently listed at Maxed Out Marine by the new owner. Boat was in great shape when we sold it but would venture to guess the motor is probably about due for a refresh.

Worth taking a look at the boat if you're interested. It is a gorgeous boat and a well taken care of machine.

The communication is suspect for sure, but I wouldn't let that little bit of rash scare me off a boat.

I had a conversation with a very reputable west coast builder the other day. The opinion shared by them was that there are quite a few "hobby builders" that come and go from time to time. While Adrenaline Custom Boats may be in business today... Being a hobby boat builder they may not be in Business in the future should the new builder decide to not do it anymore and they would be concerned with what happens to this boat in the resale market...? Does anybody have any first-hand experience with this type of thing? and/or what is your opinion on it?

Just an FYI, The price on building one of these is around 125K with no motor and drive... That's a pretty big depreciation/risk if it's worth say 60K 2,3,4 years later used with a motor and drive. Is that a reasonable concern or is the builder just Trying their best to sell me on their product and not an adrenaline product?

Without naming manufactures it is a very valid concern. I've seen it first hand with a boat I owned, I went name brand....... value was double at time of sale only a couple of years later. That said, maybe they plan to be around a while, if it is a hobby it's pretty damn expensive hobby to be in. So I would think they have a long term plan.
They say the best way to have a million dollars in the boat business is to start with two million. :D

I would not hesitate to buy an Adrenaline. Full disclosure, I have some inside information and know a pretty good amount of info on the boats and business run by Dean. His crew has built some of the nicest boats out there (working at VERY prominent manufacturers) and have a metric shit ton of expertise. While some may call Dean a “hobby builder”, the fact anyone even remotely related to Teague has one should say something.

My father purchased #3 of the Adrenaline line....28' Savage. This thing is a work of art, sturdy as hell, and Dean is a good guy with incredible attention to detail. We visited the "facility" as they were building #2 and saw the old for the V. The bottom was/is definitely from a DCB for both models, but Dean took time to rework the plug for the deck, and the deck on the Savage is nothing I've seen before. Gorgeous. Teague did testing on #1 and #2 I believe (different powerplants).

I've got pictures/videos buried somewhere. This #3 was rigged with Teague power and the rigging there was impeccable. And my dad is a stickler for detail and could not be happier with the setup.

What is the deal with the winch and wheels on the trailer in that second to last pic?

We have a wench set up for the lake house. We can launch and bring the trailer up from launching from the boat itself via a remote. The front wheels have independent suspension to go over the uneven beach and launch ramp threshold.

He’s putting some serious money into the company and the boats he’s putting out are top notch.

When I first heard about them I thought it would be kinda so so, but after seeing the boats up close I was really impressed.
I do t want to be the debut poster of the Asshole of the week thread, so.
Good for them! 😊

"Adrenaline Custom Boats" in California now owns the molds and has built at least one. Check them out on FB.

Easily Confused with "Adrenaline Powerboats" in Georgia... They are not the same company.

I had both the 24 and 28 Extreme. The 24 had 350 Mag and was a good boat but at the time I was boating at the low river at Lake Martinez. Funny I thought that boat would be perfect for that area but it was not. My personal issue was with the drive position and X dimension. Because of the swim step the drive was, in my opinion, much lower than it should be and man that thing only liked deep water or prop life was minimal.

Boat0001.jpg

The 28 was an 04 built in summer of 03. Dave delivered it to me week before Labor Day. I loved that boat. That boat is the boat Mandelon mentioned he drove to Catalina in an above post. Had 525 and would run 80-81 with light gas and no one but me. Mid cabin. I never measured but I suspect the drive was mounted higher on the 28 and would handle shallow water with ease compared to the 24. And the 28 could handle the ocean between Oceanside and Catalina.

Don't know anything about the new owner of the molds, but the builder of the boat MATTERS. The 28 I had was rock solid. I think a firefighter out of Poway bought it and still owns it.

The DCB 22 Extreme (straight bottom) is the Eliminator 22 (forgot what they called it, it was not an eagle), Ultra 23XS, Lightning 23XS, Genesis 23XS, and Cobra Razor 230.

The DCB 24 Extreme (stepped hull with swim step) is also the Ultra 247XS, Lightning 247XS, Genesis 247XS, and Tahiti built one or two 247XS as well.

I haven’t heard anything out of adrenaline boats in forever?
Checked Facebook and it’s a lot of the red and white 26 cat (DCB f26 with new deck). But nothing else. Are they still in business?

Anyone have photos of the finished 28v

I exchanged a few emails with the guy if i recall... He didn't send me to many pics of it finished in great detail but I have 2 from a far. I know Cobra Performance Boats finished the interior the same time i was getting my boat redone so I have some pics of it just before final interior finish was done. It looked like quality work. I remember the owner telling me on the phone they have/had a good relationship with DCB and they source some of their construction materials to make them.
