I may be comparing apples to oranges here but how do the two hulls compare? I know they are both step bottoms with a delta pad and I believe the eagle has a deeper v than the dcb. Is the dcb closer in size to a 21/22 eagle than the 236/250?

What kind of power do these boats really like? I’ve heard the 236/250’s are underpowered with a 454. Is there any truth to that?

I've always thought they were the same bottom, Dave just decided to call it a 24. As far as being underpowered, kind of depends on the horsepower. I'm sure some would want as much as possible, but I'd say 375 to 450 would be the sweet spot and get you to high 60's to 75mph.

I have a 95 Eagle 25, with a stock 502 mag I can barely touch 70.
That’s interesting. Found this searching some threads a while ago. Maybe it depends on how the boat was laid up?

I have an Ultra 247 from John West. It's the same as the DCB 24
I have the 496HO with flashed ECU. My boat is much lighter than the eliminator
4 people, coolers, dog etc and I can only get to about 74
It's a twin step.

Anyone know if the molds still exist for the 247?

If I'm not mistaken Ron Ehde designed both bottoms.
The DCB has a narrower beam, less freeboard.
I've had 3 250 Eagles.
96 w/502.. 300 hrs.it would run [email protected].
99 502(new) flashed ECU,EMI manifolds&risers. X dimension was raised slightly. 75-77@Havasu 1 person,light fuel.
98 w/blown 510,stand off box, light layup it would run triple digits.

I’m not entirely positive here.
The brothers Leach (Brent and Bryant) made the 22 Extreme down at the Mexico operation without Bobs knowledge or approval.
And it was a Rick Davey design/tooling.
Once the cat was out of the bag and their dad knew it was briefly an Elimimator then sold off. I think! Dave H picked them up?
Rick went to work for Dave, added a swim step and it became a 24, then he started fooling all the early DCB stuff.

If that’s the same hull? It’s a fine cruiser.
But don’t go thinking it’s fast, because it gets hairy above about 70.

@tony@DCB might remember more than me here.

I remember running out several back in the day.
If I recall that’s about what they ran with that package.
70-74ish
Was interesting that at that power level the Daytona and Eagle were in the same speed range.
70-74ish.
Once they went to blue engines the Daytona excelled.
The more power the greater the difference.

But for the black 502, that’s about what they ran.

There's a DCB 24 in the classified now
I saw that. It checks a lot of the boxes but this one has better gel. Part of me thinks the 250 would be a tad better in rougher water.

Im partial to eagles because well... I own one. I haven't ridden in a dcb extreme so im not really any help there. However if its anything like an eagle you will be happy with that setup on the one for sale in Albuquerque. Trim tabs are really nice in the rougher water. They help settle the bow down with a touch of pressure.

I exclusively boat powell and going through the Maytag straights its much fun unless your weighted down up front somehow. Wether its with gear or tab pressure.

A buddy of mine had the DCB 24 with a 525sc. It moved pretty good.

It was noticeably smaller than my 22 Velocity. My boat had a bigger beam, and more freeboard. The DCB was only about a foot longer with the swim deck, than mine with no swim deck.

I live in Albuquerque...
If you get serious I could go&check it out, maybe take more pictures.
Been for sale for a while.
I think it's a bit high priced but what do I know with the current used boat market

I’ve been struggling to put a value on it. Im thinking low 30’s but maybe I’m out of touch. I did some digging and it used be in Maryland then went to Tennessee. The old powerboat listing ad from 2014 is still up. Had 300 hours on it back then. I imagine it will need the engine gone through soon unless it wasn’t used much.

Sorry if I misled you on my rely, I just always heard that the real early models Dave was just buying from Bob and rigging them himself.

I've never driven a 250 Eagle but I think it would handle rough water better just on physical size.

I have a 24 Extreme that is very similar. Only difference is I have a stock Bravo. I had no idea prices had gone up that much.

I think you are correct about the Eliminator handling rough water better. In general, the 247 is a small 24. As stated, it is narrower and lower profile.

Mine gets upper 70s and doesn't really have any issues at that speed.

To get optimum speed out of an Eagle you have to trim it up a bunchThey run better when they're freed up&loose.
The 250's have a sweet spot, nose up&back on the pad...they're an absolute blast.
As far as rough water capabilities, I had an ex.friend had a 27 Fountain. Both our boats had 280-S offshore K tabs.
I'd kick his ass in the midday washing machine slop in Havasu.
I'd set the tabs at nuetral(parallel to the bottom)&just let it eat.
The Fountain ran the tabs down&a bit offset.
He was constantly adjusting trying to keep the boat level.
I never touched the tabs from parallel &used to walk his ass.
I think for the size they're decent in the rough.

The one I am selling is the HP model. From what I have researched, there were only 30 or so of these made in a closed bow version. It has a double step and pad.

Most recent comp for a 24 Extreme was from RDP and it was a MCOB. Pretty sick ride and perfect. Sold for $52k.

250 Eagle is a completely different hull and has the same slanted swim step as the the 28 Eagle which is completely worthless. The 24 DCB HP Model, with a 454, will run 70's at the top.

Come get ours for $29k. Won't find a better deal anywhere right now and I will throw in a pack of black socks for you, along with a DCB sticker for your truck.

Damn...
Now you've piqued my interest!

For what its worth i have the magazine issue that featured my boat. 1994 eliminator eagle 250. At the time it was a closed bow and had a 502 mag fuel injection motor. With 1 operator and probably just enough fuel to make a few passes it was the first west coast performance boat to hit 80 mph. Not sure when the magazine was published. Currently the boat has a cammed 454 carb motor and clocks 65 at Powell with a 22 pitch 4 blade. It is also a mcob and is loaded with 3 100# dogs and 500#s of passengers full coolers 10 gallons of gas and way more ah shit part's than you can shake a stick at! Oh and some sound system stuff too.

Not sure when the article was first published but your boat was Powerboats runabout of the year in 1995.

Its funny my father in-law absolutely loves my boat. He vividly recalls the day the day he the magazine showed up in his mailbox and he was able to read it and he was blown away that a boat hit 80mph! He said that it was the first performance boat he fell in love with in a magazine. Said the whole package was timeless and unbelievably fast!

Dumb question but do either have issues with transom/stringer rot or is it pretty rare for them to have issues other than the honeycomb style floor in the eliminators?
