Well we had two department managers and three other employees test positive over the last 72 hours that have close contact with many of our employees, including myself on a daily basis.
So with that being said upper management has decided to shut the plant down for ten days per the guidelines. It's a tough decision as this is our busiest time of the year but they had rather not risk further exposure to all of the employees.
So now I'm off until Jan 4, 2021 as I had put in for week 53 off. Time to go play with my drone...

A good friend of mine went to the the rodeo nat'l in Texas last week. 6 of them came home and tested + a week later. My stepson and sil had It recently. They have all said it's been no worse than a bad Cold. It's WAY over hyped by the gov't and MSM.

The PBR Finals rodeo was held in the new 48,000 seat Globe Life Field, next to the Cowboys stadium. Attendance was limited to 15,000 per night over the seven day run.

I haven't heard anything locally that would indicate the rodeo has caused widespread infection.

The World Series was also held at GLF in October, with 12,000 fans per game. Again, there have been no claims this caused increased infection among attendees.

My job got shut down till 1/4 also . Hope you and the family are good . Enjoy your time off .

Good news 14 days off during holidays bad news reduced pay for 14 months to make up for company losses during shutdown

We now have a policy at work that if you call out sick or leave early due to not feeling well.... you need to have a clean covod test to come back. The company pays for it and we have reserved times everyday for any of our employees at a local testing facility with the rapid tests. If someone calls out, gets a negative test result and wants to try to wait out the quarantine period, it is unpaid. We have had a couple guys try that.

We're battling an outbreak now. Started last week. Down 5 guys plus an office worker. I literally just took over operations and trying to isolate and track this and keep protects running was ridiculous.

I think we got it under control but we are utilizing some temp workers that I can't control there coming and goings. So anything can happen.

My super called and told me, I then called said employee and told him he couldn't come back unless he had a negative test. Later that evening I got a text from him telling me he was fine and should have stayed instead of leaving. Told him to bad he started a new company policy and needed a negative test to come back. Gets better, he called his Dr. to get a test and it's been 3 days and he doesn't have results back. Usually he is a pretty good employee, but we do know he has a lazy streak. Hopefully four days of no pay breaks him of that. ;)

You might want to check on the pay issue. I believe there was a law passed that stated is someone misses work directly due to COVID then cannot be NOT paid. That is the reason we went into the agreement with the one lab here in town. 20 minute results for $125 a test is cheaper than paying a guy for 3 days off cause he went and got a free test somewhere and is waiting for the results.

Am I the only one starting to worry about product availability going into 2021? We saw goofy shortages in the AG industry when this started. Plenty of feed at the granaries but no 50lb sacks available for packaging due to a plant shutdown. I'm on the 2nd month of waiting for Bilstein shocks for one of our cars. I'm seeing more and more posts and conversations regarding friends having to shut down. It seems like there's an upswing in cases now so we are seriously looking at trying to buy an entire years worth of consumables for the business in just a couple of blocks instead of cash flowing as needed. I'm ready for this shit to be over.

Pretty sure he’s required to be paid. I let my HR gal handle as much as I can, but I believe if they are out due to Covid they are required to be paid up to 80 hours. That pay will become a deduction on your taxes down the road.

Not saying I’m correct, just saying you might want to be sure it’s not required before he does.

We have certainly been seeing ridiculous shortages this year. No breakers, certain conduit fittings, j boxes etc. Frankly its been nice to been getting the annual Christmas holiday excuse this week rather than the year long Covid excuse for delays.

Were in AZ also. If there is a company size qualifier we MAY be above it (about 90 employees) but I'm not too sure. I would definitely do a little research to be 100% sure. Hate to see a business owner hurt even more due to this bullshit.

Yup, my company shows it on your paystub. I have 80 Hours "Covid Pay" showing.

if employee is negative and used Covid as an excuse you don‘t have to pay from day test was taken to when they return to work. You might have to pay day left to test day (most companies have policy, test must be taken within 48hrs).

There's a waiting period of 4-6(depends on individual policies)days after exposure before you can test at some of the places we work. Most will not except a rapid test.

Son mentioned the other day how he's struggling to find breakers to meet the needs of his service and new construction customers. When he's tried to purchase re-furb or used breakers, just to get them back up, they're pricing gouging.

Its hilarious, even CED is buying off the shelf at Home Depot. Any time I run into Home Depot personally I make a stop in the electric aisle and clear the shelf of 2 pulls and Quads just because I know we will need them.
Scary but most dont understand how close the system runs on "just in time". A hiccup like this and there are only so many substitutions available.

From what I read the new OSHA requirement came out 11/30. The small company number is below 50 employees. We were at 55 employees. So boss said we needed to get below 50 to be considered a small company. We were getting a little slow anyway. We found jobs for them at other companies.

Why the hell is an employer liable for this? That's what they have unemployment & disability for, which employers pay into by the way.
