In may i was fortunate enough to do the BVI on a 50 foot 17 foot wide tein diesel catamaran. We showered on board and it went straight to the water. Once we left whatever port/Anchorage in open water we could pump the black tanks. Does the ssme apply for havasu/other fresh water bodies of water?

No, it's a international waters thing. I spent a little time on the USS Rushmore, as soon as we were out a ways the Navy started throwing trash overboard. I was floored watching this. I suppose you could do in in fresh water, just don't get caught. Scratch that, please don't do it.

I don’t care if it’s legal to dump stuff overboard or not but nobody should be able to do it !!!

You don’t need to be in international water to pump the head in the ocean.

When we used to go to Catalina all the time in our ocean boat - they would board (and still do) and put green dye pellets in your holding tank to see if you pumped while there.

We had a boat load of party favors on board and one of them went into the head and flushed her maxi pad down the drain - that
didn’t go well and backed the whole system up.

We were having a grand ole time with cocktails flowing and music full tilt. When all of a sudden we were surrounded by every harbor patrol on the island. Turns out every time someone took a piss it was backing up and going out the vent on the side of the hull. We had a giant bright green slick surrounding our boat and we stood out like a sore thumb.

They didn’t like that very well - but could tell it was an accident and said get out of the harbor and go dump the tank a couple miles from shore. Got off easy that day.

Not sure what the distance is here, but in BVI it was 2 miles from shore before you could dump.

All gray, showers and sink go directly overboard. Legal to dump black tank 3 miles offshore. Wife thought is was gross dumping black into the ocean. Asked her if she every saw a whale shit.[emoji23]

You can dump raw sewage at 3 miles. Inside of 3 miles you are required to have a type I or type II msd that treats the discharge prior to release. it is illegal to dump in most local lakes and rivers including havasu.
