I'm seriously floored by the amount of fast food you folks eat. And then complaining because it's expensive. I'm trying not to laugh at the humor of it all. You're paying these prices to be poisoned. Keep going down that road. You're doing exactly what they want you to do. They've made it addicting so that you'll keep coming back no matter the cost. Yes, you'll whine and complain, but you'll keep coming back. And your women and daughters are doing the same thing with their $10 coffees from Starbux or Dutch Bros. Perhaps you are also. I don't get it.

Yes, I realize groceries are high also, but I'm pretty picky about most of our groceries and what we put in our bodies. That's why it costs so much. Many regular groceries can still be found for fairly reasonable prices if you shop the sales. The high end stuff is higher than ever, but the cheaper brands aren't much more than they were before the pandemic. Store brand pasta, beans, bread, and cheerios would bring my grocery bill down considerably.

I remember my mom telling me when I was a teenager, "If you agree to pay the high price of something that you know should be less, then you are basically saying you're okay with it."

Sounds like you all are okay with it.
Whatever that “Cravin” brand of food is its garbage. At one point I thought it was Staters crap private label brand until I saw it at other stores. I don’t care how cheap that crap is, if I don’t enjoy eating it ( flavor or texture) I will pay more for something better.

At this point I’m splitting meals, eating in or eating out. On the plus side I’ve lost 25 pounds.

When you're poor you stay home and fuck.
Funny you say that. In the 90s we performed post foreclosures evictions. Many thousands of them ranging from elite homes in Bel Air, to the slums of Long Beach, and everything in between.

Pornography and adult toys were always found in the low income income houses. We hardly ever found any at the higher end houses.

I concluded the same - sex is free 😁

Did you hear about the shooting after homecoming at in n out

Yes, I haven’t read up on it much but it sounds like no one was hit.

My Mom and step dad had just exited the freeway at second street and saw a bunch of people running across the street to the Ford dealership, they were wondering wtf was going on.

Typical turd, only cares about herself and just so you know lil mentally challenged one, yore 401K didn’t go up by 4X, yore husband’s may appear it did, but his dollars don’t have the same value they did in 2020.

Stick to giving us cost of Dawn, Tide and Swifter, we KNOW you know that!!! 🤣
The 401k may have gone up four fold, but only buys a fourth of what it did in some cases.

@angiebaby , we as a family eat out about once a month, maybe less? Service kind of sucks except for one little Mexican place, so we go there. Their prices and food haven't changed much. The other place we may go is InNOut. Other than that, 3 meals a day made here, for 5 people. As you said, trying to be healthy isn't as cheap as quick meals, but far cheaper than bagged food in a drive-thru.

@Sportin' Wood , Geno's! That's them. Had them stacked like 45 records in the freezer! I started adding seasoning to them, all kinds of whatever to change them up 🤣

The Government says $59 a day to feed me each day I’m away from home. $420 a week.(Per Diem)

I’ve kind of budgeted that amount for retirement. That will also include my liquor bill as well. 😉. So the wife and I should be good for a $120 bill including drinks almost everyday.

We went to the Big Island Hawaii a couple weeks ago. I mentally prepared myself for the high prices on everything. We were pleasantly surprised that food and gas was cheaper than Oregon! WTF????

Let’s look at some of the positives, instead of the negatives?

Stock Market is up from 2020

Gas is almost at an all time low

And for you guys that own Real Estate…….. it has appreciated to historic levels

The sky is not falling. I also believe the glass is half full…….. not empty

Maybe some of you can post some positive thoughts instead of negative ones. Just saying. It’s not all doom and gloom.

As for the rest of what you typed, Gen Z and Millennials would tell you to piss off.

These conditions are not conducive to maintaining a prosperous nation, nor a civil society. We were built by and prospered by a healthy middle class. If you destroy that by stealing wealth and passing it along to your friends, this Republic will falter.

And yet I look at the channel nowadays and I see a crowded, very crowded channel with very expensive boats going up and down the waterway, and I mean expensive boats by the dozens, same goes for Moabi Channel or the most outrageous place of all, the Haulover Inlet in Florida (?), hell almost any waterway to be truthful.
I was just a lowly Operating Engineer, and it took a lot to afford a new Magic Deckboat back in 2004 so when I see these new great lookin rides I wonder how people afford them cause they anit cheap, plus the haul rig costalotta also. so are they all in debt up to their eyeballs, I dont know ☹️
What I do know is that before elections the promise is to make things more affordable from both partys, so far in all my years there has been 1 guy who basically did what he said inspite of all out opposition from the other side, that guy I wont mention his name, TRUMP, made things better !!!!!!! 🤙

Florida. It’s around $3 a gallon right now. (Edit. Its $2.73 today)
$3.39 here. It's been around $3 for most of my adult life. Occasionally in the low $2s and low $4s, but usually somewhere around $3. For the past 25 years or so.

Our economy is benefiting the rich, so I'm doing just fine, but I care more about future generation's ability to prosper in order to maintain this once great nation, so no I can't.

BTW your stock market all time high pom poms come at a price.....................when the Fed is printing money to buy it. It's DESTROYING the dollar and middle to low income families across this country.

Okay, now adjust for inflated dollars. According to the BLS, $2.00 in 2000 = $3.73 today. Seems to me it's no higher than regular inflation over 20 years. Have average wages increased since then? Let me check.

Again, from the BLS, average wage in US in 2000 was ~$35,000. Last year it was $65,470.

So, has the price of fuel REALLY increased in 25 years? I think it is nearly the same, based on some very quick math in my head.

Positive: I was able to pay off my home before things got out of hand. It's worth a lot more than I paid...but I couldn't afford to move anywhere because everything went up. So, kind of a draw.

Single income, household of 5. My oldest is on a healthy scholarship, and paying out the rest working, but her food and utilities will stay on me until she graduates. I drive a Prius that is held together with spit and baling wire, so the "low" cost of fuel can still be saved for the ever increasing cost of feeding the family. (Having two teenage boys is the equivalent of driving a BBC with 4.10 gears with a high stall)

I'm not the patriarch of a young family, but the financial burden is being felt by many. It effects us all, but the effects may take longer for some to feel, or just may not be felt proportionately?

On Sunday I visited with a friend as he was cleaning his collection of noise makers..

He was complaining about the high cost of groceries, while simultaneously showing me the piece of land newly purchased he was going to build his next house on.

So yeah pick your battles. I'm not exactly sure how either party is going to "lower prices".

We will never return to 1960s prices.

Or even 1990s prices.

Neither will our incomes.

Oh yeah, we have more millionaires and billionaires than ever.

I complained once about the profit of a mega corporation that supplies restaurants and I was shot down because "hey it's a free market".

It's not a free market when 10 corporations control everything most people purchase.

And those 10 corporations own every politician on both sides of the aisle.

So we will continue to read about billionaires new yachts and their girlfriend's new boobs and complain about the price of groceries.

If we actually had a DOJ that was just, they would look into those politicians and discover why their net worth skyrocketed while they were casting those votes, but we don't.

It's doable, you just need men and women with a strong moral compass and no fear of reprisals.

The day will come when the people of this nation are on their knees struggling like never before and THAT's when the blood will start spilling. It's the only way those on top will take action, bringing Lady Justice back to her glorious return, that is sorely needed.

Don't travel. . There are places you can still eat well for $2, rent a nice house near a beach for less than $200/mo. (White man's price) locals $60/mo. It really is an eye opner as to how expensive the US is, basically everyone feeding the most wealthy to become more wealthy while you become more poor.

$5/week maid
$8/24hr. driver
$2/24hr. comfort companion.
(Typically includes a haircut)
.04/ cup of coffee.

"Let them eat cake."

What does 8/24 mean.. 8 dollars an hour x24 hrs a day?

wtf is a comfort companion? Is that like a hooker?

Rdp millionaire says it’s all good 👍 lol
FWIW……….. I am a positive person. I don’t like to dwell on the negative. I never said things are all good. What I did do is point out some positives in a negative thread.

I try to find the good in circumstances and people. I truly enjoy meeting people from all walks of life.

There is a lot of positives in our current economy, if you take the time to look. It’s not all doom and gloom.

A few years ago, gas was around $5 per gallon. Now it’s $3. That’s a huge positive.

Construction is off the charts where I live. The state bird of Florida should be switched to “The Crane” because there is new construction everywhere.

Florida just set a record for tourism. The hotels and restaurants seem to be doing great.

The cruise industry is at an all time high.

I wake up every day with a positive attitude. I refuse to hang out with the doom n gloom crowd. They just bring you down!

One last thing…….. I eat at approx 10 different restaurants a week. Eating out is one of my hobbies……. followed by bar crawling.I just got back home after taking my boat to lunch today. I offset the cost of my $28 Cesar Salad with the cheap tank of boat gas to get there! lol I feel as though I am doing my part in helping local restaurants stay in business.

BTW………. It’s great to be alive!

I wish each and everyone of you the best and hope you can find some positives to dwell on.

I bring lunch to work everyday and I really mean everyday. Wife cooks and always makes extra for me to take to lunch. I’ve been doing that for the past 7 years. I used to go out with other people in the office everyday for lunch and it would cost a fortune back then. Now it’s probably triple the price. Not only that, the food is terrible and so unhealthy. F all that.

Today for lunch, I have eggplant parm. So good.

When I quit working in LA, I think the population was a tad over 12 million. Bring in OC, the IE and that I would think would double it. I'm no math whiz, but I'm sure there's a percentage of illegals that are not counted as well.

When you figure the biggest holiday weekend either on the water, or at the dunes, I would think that number would be a very small percentage of the overall population. Basing any guess, political, financial or otherwise, on the channel alone would probably be a bit off kilter.

Generally speaking if you are a boat owner you’d be in the top 5% of the USA.. if you own a Hallett probably top 2%. If you own a DCB / MTI and the like 1%. If you own a new Schiada you are a baller.

I thought I scored finding diesel in Norco yesterday @ 4.29/gal

I guess I should feel good about that lol.... the small old homes in Riverside next to my office are now 700K... definitely feel bad for anyone starting out without a huge hand-me-down.

frickin michelada at a soccer game the other day was $28 bucks, hit that 15% button because the guy was nice when he poured it and we were at $32 and change for spruced up beer 🤡

Layoffs are happening. What happens this week with the FED? The political season is going to get even more spicy.

I tend to be a worry wart, but I also think that these type of times are when you can make greater impacts.

This thread gives me the impression that recession is finally here right on queue for the election cycle. Did anyone call LOF yet? He did ask for us to call him when people start losing jobs so he could hold his hat.

As a business owner and a younger guy here….. you’re living in denial lol.

I’ve got deep 6 figures of equity in a home. And it doesn’t do a damn thing. Thankfully our mortgage is locked in.

And every time I raise my prices customers act like I carved out their liver. Can’t remember the movie reference but it’s there lol.
